What Is The Traitors?
The Traitors UK is a reality TV competition on BBC One that involves 22 players, some of which are playing as traitors, the others as faithfuls. It is the traitor’s job to ‘murder’ their fellow faithfuls as they aim to keep their identity hidden. Those playing as faithful must work together to get out who they believe to be a traitor. If they succeed the grand prize will be theirs, however, if any traitors remain at the end of the game the money will be theirs.
It takes place in the grounds of a historic Scottish castle giving the show a dramatic, intense and creepy vibe. It is hosted by Claudia Winkleman who truly brings The Traitors to life with her signature outfits, dramatic narration and just how obsessed she is with the show!

The 2026 season summary
The new series of The Traitors exploded into action on New Year’s Day as 22 contestants entered Ardross Castle – and the betrayals began immediately. Within days, four players had already fallen: Netty became the season’s first murder victim; Judy was banished in a twist that devastated her secretly‑playing daughter Roxy; ex‑forces veteran Ben was murdered in a shocking early strike; and Hugo, whose dramatic reaction to Ben’s death raised suspicions, became the first Traitor banished by the Faithful.
Chaos defined the early game. With Hugo gone, Traitors Stephen and Rachel pushed forward, pulling off a high‑risk mission in episode three by marking nine potential victims on the castle’s family‑tree mural in full view of the Faithful. Their success unlocked a clandestine reward: a meeting with the mysterious Secret Traitor, whose identity had been hidden from both players and viewers.
The reveal changed everything. The Secret Traitor was Fiona, a Swansea local‑government officer who had been quietly shaping murder shortlists from the shadows. Her arrival in the conclave immediately shifted the balance of power – and sowed the seeds of internal conflict.
That tension soon erupted. A fierce confrontation between Fiona and Rachel triggered the season’s first Traitor‑vs‑Traitor showdown. The fallout was brutal: Reece was murdered, and Fiona herself was banished at the roundtable after a heated clash that exposed her double‑game. Her unmasking sent shockwaves through the castle and left the remaining Traitors scrambling to regain control.
From there, the game only grew more volatile. Faithful alliances fractured, suspicions ricocheted from player to player, and several banishments – including James via the infamous empty‑chest twist – reshaped the mid‑game. Meanwhile, Stephen and Rachel tightened their grip, eliminating threats while keeping the Faithful divided.
By the finale, the Traitors’ strategy paid off. Jade, Faraaz and Jack were banished in rapid succession, clearing the path for Rachel and Stephen to win as a Traitor duo, splitting the prize pot and becoming one of the most dominant endgames the UK series has seen.
