What Is The Traitors?

The Traitors UK is a reality TV competition on BBC One that involves 22 players, some of which are playing as traitors, the others as faithfuls. It is the traitor’s job to ‘murder’ their fellow faithfuls as they aim to keep their identity hidden. Those playing as faithful must work together to get out who they believe to be a traitor. If they succeed the grand prize will be theirs, however, if any traitors remain at the end of the game the money will be theirs.

It takes place in the grounds of a historic Scottish castle giving the show a dramatic, intense and creepy vibe. It is hosted by Claudia Winkleman who truly brings The Traitors to life with her signature outfits, dramatic narration and just how obsessed she is with the show!

As the contestants battle it out at the round table with traitors in plain sight, this show is sure to grip you from the outset. With challenging missions, shields up for grabs, accusations, theories, ‘murders’ and a whole lot of deception – it is a show you do not want to miss. You can join in on the experience throughout by playing our Bingo game each week! With the ability to customise the card yourself or with our weekly updates, it’s a sure way to immerse yourself into the world of The Traitors.

Latest Updates

The new series of The Traitors burst into life on New Year’s Day as 22 contestants entered Ardross Castle – and the betrayals began instantly. Within the first few days, four players were already gone: nursery teacher Netty, the season’s first murder victim; Judy, whose banishment devastated her secretly‑playing daughter Roxy; former Navy man Ben, murdered in a shocking early twist; and Hugo, whose dramatic reaction to Ben’s death led to his downfall as the first Traitor banished by the group.

The early game was defined by chaos. After Hugo’s exit, Traitors Stephen and Rachel pressed on, completing a high‑risk mission in episode three: marking nine potential victims on the castle’s family‑tree poster in full view of the Faithful. Their success earned them a clandestine reward – a meeting with the mysterious Secret Traitor, whose identity had been hidden from both players and viewers.

That reveal finally arrived: the Secret Traitor was Fiona, a Swansea local government officer who had been covertly influencing the murder shortlists from the start. Her arrival in the conclave immediately shifted the power dynamic, setting the stage for internal conflict.

The tension exploded soon after. A dramatic confrontation between Fiona and fellow Traitor Rachel triggered the season’s first Traitor‑vs‑Traitor showdown. The fallout was brutal: Reece was murdered by the Traitors, and Fiona herself was banished at the roundtable following a heated clash with Rachel. Her unmasking sent shockwaves through the castle and left the remaining Traitors scrambling to regain control.

With alliances fracturing, suspicions intensifying, and the Faithful emboldened by their first major Traitor catch, the game has become more unpredictable than ever. The question now is whether the remaining Traitors can stabilise – or whether more betrayals from within are inevitable.

Contestants

  • Adam (34, builder, Essex): Outspoken with “no filter”; studied body language so he can spot liars (and hide his own). Would take family to Florida and save the rest.

  • Ellie (33, psychologist): Plans to analyse everyone’s motivations but hide her job to avoid assumptions. Would put winnings towards her first London flat.

  • Faraaz (22, internal auditor, Middlesborough): Superfan; intends to stay measured early and keep cards close. Would fund a religious pilgrimage (Umrah/Hajj) and maybe a new car.

  • Fiona (62, local government officer, Swansea): Thinks people warm to her because she’s trustworthy. Would boost her pension and support dementia carers.

  • Harriet (52, bestselling crime writer & former barrister, London): Loves the “plotting” element; will play down career and lean into “mum/housewife” vibe. Would donate to breast cancer research.

  • Jack (29, personal trainer, Essex): Will play into being underestimated as the “PT from Essex.” Wants a property deposit and a garden gym studio.

  • Jade (25, PhD student, West Midlands): Will downplay academics (say she’s a Master’s student) to avoid attention. Wants to buy a house and settle.

  • James (38, gardener, Weymouth): “Geeky vibes”; big poker player who claims he can read people but won’t advertise it. Would spend on a family holiday and camper van.

  • Jessie (28, hairstylist, Hull): Thinks people underestimate her (orange hair/stammer) but says she can be brutal; used to “little lies” with clients. Wants to pay off mum’s house and invest in her business.

  • Matthew (35, creative director, Northern Irish, based in Edinburgh): Admits he becomes “brutal” in games and is highly competitive. Wants a Highlands cottage and wedding plans with his partner.

  • Rachel (42, head of communications, County Down): Nicknamed “Monica from Friends”; will do anything to win. Took online classes on micro-expressions; wants a trip with her mum (who has dementia) and kids.

  • Reece (27, sweet shop assistant, Sheffield): Not shy about being cutthroat; confident in physical missions. Would donate to Macmillan and put money towards a house.

  • Roxy (32, recruiter, Amsterdam-based): Says early life taught her to adapt and figure out who to trust. Wants a big family trip and to start a family with her boyfriend; secretly Judy’s daughter.

  • Sam (34, account manager, North Yorkshire): Big fan; constantly wary because even backstories can be lies. Wants winnings to ease pressure of starting a family (childcare costs).

  • Stephen (32, cyber security consultant, London): Fit and mission-ready; thinks Scottish accent helps people warm to him. Uses linguistics to spot shifts in wording; wants to help parents and get on the property ladder.

Banished

  • Judy (60, child liaison officer, Doncaster): Nurturing, upbeat, “always jolly”; wants everyone together in a big holiday villa. Secretly Roxy’s mum.
  • Hugo (51, barrister, Cardiff-born Londoner): Obsessed superfan (watched UK/US/Aus/NZ); fascinated by how wrong people get it at the Round Table. Would donate to Amnesty International.
  • Amanda (57, retired police detective, Brighton): Uses interrogation/sleuthing skills to “put the pieces together”; calm under pressure. Would donate to pulmonary hypertension causes and take family on holiday.
  • Ross (37, sales exec & personal trainer, London): Says he can mix lies with truth; sporty background + “lucky” streak. Would further formalise PT career via sports/nutrition education.

Murdered

  • Netty (42, nursery teacher, Glasgow): Joined to have fun and “get a bit of herself back”; excited for missions though some are harder due to a limb difference. Would travel with her 7-year-old daughter.
  • Ben (66, ex-forces, Hampshire): Ultra-competitive (“I’m the only person allowed to win”); bringing military mindset. Would learn to fly and give his wife the honeymoon she missed.
  • Maz (59, civil servant, Preston): Loves the missions; keeps fit (football twice a week). Prize money would go on his big family (kids + grandkids).
