Prepare to dance along from the comfort of your living room as Strictly Come Dancing makes a grand return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this September! The broadcast dates haven’t been confirmed yet, but we do know that the Launch Show will be recorded on Wednesday 10th September.
The 2025 series of the nation’s favourite dance show promises to be more spectacular than ever before, but it will be very hard to top the 2024 series which was won by actor and comedian Chris McCausland, who just happens to be blind. What an amazing feelgood moment it was when he won!
Strictly Come Dancing, a creation for dance lovers, is a beloved competition where celebrities team up with professional dancers to showcase their skills in various ballroom and Latin dances. Each week, the pairs perform routines to impress the judges and the audience, ultimately vying for the Glitterball Trophy after weeks of competition. Taking celebrities out of their comfort zone and the constant nerves and drama has made this show must see TV!
The 2025 series will be hosted by as usual by the wonderful Tess Daly, who has been with the show since its inception in 2004, alongside the delightful Claudia Winkleman.
This year’s performances will be scrutinized by the usual expert panel of judges: Shirley Ballas, the head judge known for her keen eye and vast dance knowledge; Craig Revel Horwood, famous for his sharp tongue and razor wit; Motsi Mabuse, who brings passion and enthusiasm to her critiques; and Anton Du Beke, the beloved former professional dancer who now offers his expertise from the judges’ side of the table.
But who will be competing for the Strictly 2025 Glitterball? It’s time to reveal the official (and unofficial) Strictly Come Dancing celebrity line-up…
Strictly Come Dancing 2025 Contestants
Most of the professional dancers stepping onto the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 floor have now been confirmed, with fan favourites Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Luba Mushtuk and Jowita Przysta all returning. They’ll be joined by Amy Dowden, Carlos Gu, Kai Widdrington, Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec, Nancy Xu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas, Vito Coppola and Karen Hauer, making for one of the strongest pro line-ups in years. Gorka Marquez has announced that while he will appear in group numbers, he won’t be competing this season due to commitments with the Spanish version of the show. Fresh faces Julian Caillon and Alexis Warr round out the roster, both making their Strictly debuts.
But let’s be honest – while the pros are the backbone of the series, what everyone is really waiting for is the celebrity line-up. Now, at last, the full cast has been revealed – and it’s a mix of soap legends, sports stars, comedians and household names ready to battle it out under the glitterball.
-
Lewis Cope & Katya Jones – Emmerdale star Lewis Cope was drafted in last minute to replace Game of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn, who dropped out. He’s paired with former winner Katya Jones, who promises to push him to his limits on the dance floor.
-
Karen Carney & Carlos Gu – Former England footballer turned pundit Karen Carney joins Strictly this year, paired with Carlos Gu, who returns after skipping the 2024 season. Carlos finished runner-up in 2023 — can Karen take him one better?
-
Stefan Dennis & Dianne Buswell – Neighbours legend Stefan Dennis has signed up after 40 years on Ramsay Street. He’ll dance with last year’s winning pro, Dianne Buswell, who will also make Strictly history as the first dancer to compete while pregnant.
-
Vicky Pattison & Kai Widdrington – Geordie Shore star turned presenter Vicky Pattison has admitted she’s “a drinker, not a dancer.” Can Kai Widdrington transform her into ballroom royalty, or will she remain the nation’s “drunk aunty” on the floor?
-
Ellie Goldstein & Vito Coppola – Model Ellie Goldstein, the first person with Down syndrome to appear in British Vogue, makes Strictly history this year. She’s partnered with Strictly star Vito Coppola, who already has one Glitterball to his name.
-
Chris Robshaw & Nadiya Bychkova – Former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw trades scrums for sambas, dancing with Nadiya Bychkova. Can she lead him further than last year’s disappointing first-week exit?
-
La Voix & Aljaž Škorjanec – Drag superstar La Voix is paired with Strictly veteran Aljaž, who has reached the top 10 every year he’s competed. La Voix says dancing live on Saturday nights is more terrifying than RuPaul or Simon Cowell!
-
George Clarke & Alexis Warr – YouTuber and podcaster George “Clarkey” Clarke takes to the floor with newcomer Alexis Warr, fresh from Dancing with the Stars in the US. George admits he has “no idea” what he’s doing, expect comedy as well as choreography.
-
Alex Kingston & Johannes Radebe – Doctor Who’s River Song herself, Alex Kingston, has been paired with Johannes Radebe. Alex admits she’s “terrified” but inspired by last year’s success stories. Johannes, ever consistent, will aim for his first Glitterball.
-
Amber Davies & Nikita Kuzmin – Stepping in for injured Love Island star Dani Dyer, who fractured her ankle before the first live show, Amber Davies takes her spot with Nikita Kuzmin. Amber says she’s “watched Strictly since she was little”, and vows to do Dani proud.
-
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey & Karen Hauer – Olympian sprinter and Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey is back after last year’s Christmas special. This time he’s dancing full-time with Strictly icon Karen Hauer. His athletic power could make him a dark horse.
Eliminations
- Thomas Skinner & Amy Dowden – Entrepreneur and Apprentice alum Thomas Skinner, alongside professional dancer Amy Dowden, became the first couple to exit this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. Their journey ended after a tense dance-off against rugby star Chris Robshaw and his partner Nadiya Bychkova. Despite their spirited Salsa to “Bonkers,” the judges opted to save Chris and Nadiya, sending Thomas and Amy home.
- Ross King & Jowita Przystal – TV presenter Ross King and professional dancer Jowita Przystał became the second couple to leave this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. Their Thunderbirds-themed Paso Doble saw them land in the dance-off against actress Balvinder Sopal and partner Julian Caillon. Despite Ross’s enthusiasm and charm, the judges voted unanimously to save Balvinder and Julian, bringing Ross and Jowita’s Strictly journey to an end.
- Balvinder Sopal & Julian Caillon – EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal and her professional partner Julian Caillon became the third couple to exit this year’s competition. Their elegant Waltz to “Moon River” wasn’t enough to keep them out of the bottom two, landing them in a dance-off against entrepreneur Thomas Skinner and Amy Dowden. Despite Balvinder’s graceful performance and Julian’s choreography, the judges chose to save Thomas and Amy, ending Balvinder and Julian’s Strictly journey.
- Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink & Lauren Oakley – Former footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and professional dancer Lauren Oakley were the fourth couple to leave the ballroom. Their energetic Jive to “Footloose” earned praise from the judges but couldn’t secure enough public votes. In the dance-off against Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin, both couples had scored well on the leaderboard, but the judges unanimously saved Amber and Nikita. Jimmy and Lauren bowed out with smiles and gratitude, having won over fans with their enthusiasm and charm.
