FIFA Club World Cup Bingo
Hold on, you thought the 2025 football season was over right! Not quite! OK, for the majority of clubs it is and their players get a well earned break. But for some of the elite clubs in the world they get to compete this summer in FIFA’s Club World Cup. To celebrate this brand new competition we have created a new set of our free to play football bingo cards which you can play along with while you watch.
What is the Club World Cup and how does it work?
This brand new FIFA tournament is truly a new global event and is the first of its kind in this format. Originally, the structure of this tournament was a small quiet affair with only 7 teams competing once a year. It tended to run in the winter, clashing with the domestic season for the winner of the Champions League (the only European team in contention).
Starting in 2025, this tournament will now be held every 4 years. The new format involves 32 teams competing against each other taken from football federations from all over the globe. Using a major tournament structure, there will be 8 groups of 4 teams playing in a round-robin format, with the top 2 from each group progressing to the knock-out round of 16 stage. Then the quarter finals, semi finals and the final.
Where is this? How do I watch?
The FIFA Club World Cup is being hosted by the USA from the 14th June to the 13th July 2025 with 12 stadiums covering 63 games. The majority of the stadiums being used for this tournament will again be used for the 2026 World Cup, so it’s practice of sorts for that.
The great thing about this event is like other major footballing tournaments it is free to view around the world. DAZN is the exclusive global broadcaster with all games available to stream live. Alongside DAZN, in the UK Channel 5 will also show 23 live games including the final throughout the tournament.
Which teams are competing and who’s going to win?
This is where it gets a little complex. Firstly there are 12 teams from Europe, 6 from South America, 4 from Africa, 4 from Asia, 4 from North and Central America, 1 from Oceania and 1 from the host nation. Teams were ranked from the 2021 to 2024 seasons via their Champions League or other federations’ equivalent performance and a maximum of two teams per country can participate. This means that some very high level teams including Barcelona and Liverpool are not taking part due to patchy performances in the Champions League.
Chelsea and Man City both won the Champions League in this time frame and therefore fill the two spots for English teams. Other teams from Europe include Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and Inter to name a few. Teams to watch out for from other continents are SE Palmeiras from Brazil, CA River Plate from Argentina and the David Beckham owned Inter Miami featuring the one and only Lionel Messi.
The previous incarnation of this tournament has tended to throw up European winners. A Brazilian club has won on 4 occasions with the rest being won by either a Spanish, English, Italian or German club. If I had to pinpoint a winner I would pick either Inter or PSG as Champions League winners and finalists will certainly do well here. The bookies’ favourite is Real Madrid, with Man City and Bayern Munich 2nd and 3rd favourites. Expect some high scoring games in the group stages with some complete mis-matches.
With greats like Messi currently seeing out his career with Inter Miami, Ballon D’or winning Rodri now fully fit for Man City, Kane playing for Bayern Munich, Mbappe and Bellingham in good form for Real Madrid and Ronaldo desperately searching for a club that is involved in this (as he will be a free agent from the 1st June), this tournament could be just the thing to get die hard football fans through the summer.
So you reckon this tournament could be easy to predict? Well let’s see how you fare with the Fifa Club World Cup 2025 bingo cards. Download a set now and let the games begin!
