Rio Bingo is a Dragonfish bingo site that’s networked with Costa Bingo, Sing Bingo and others. It was originally launched back in 2014.
The original theming of Rio Bingo was a bit of a mash-up; it was clearly influenced by the animated film of the same name but was also a fairly obvious attempt to cash in on the 2014 World Cup which was hosted in Rio de Janeiro. The site’s mascot, Rio the parrot, was an immediate casualty three years later when the Gambling Commission banned gambling sites from using images with child appeal in promotional materials. The site now frankly looks as if it has bits of the design missing – because it has! What’s left has an understated carnival theme.
In any case, the theming doesn’t really matter as none of it really persists once you get inside the lobby and find that, for example, the “Booty Shake” jackpot game is actually called “Wednesday JP” and not only is it not exclusive to Rio Bingo or even the group of sites headed by Costa Bingo, it’s the game also known as “Wacky Wednesday” on the Dragonfish network. Some of the rooms including the 52-5 Bingo Vegas game, various jackpot games and free rooms are equally widely networked.
What about the regular bingo rooms? They’re networked rather more widely than you might expect too – you’ll find most of them (under other names) at 888 Ladies and sister sites as well as at Costa and sister sites and this is bound to have a positive effect on player numbers and prize size. Many of them are “real money only” i.e. no bonus allowed, whether it’s from the welcome offer or from redeeming Diamonds from the loyalty scheme.
