Bonanza Falls & Megadozer
Big Time Gaming are behind one of the most popular slot games of the last few years and arguably of all time – Bonanza. The original Bonanza game marked the first appearance of the insanely popular Megaways game feature, which is so loved by players that it has appeared in hundreds of games since, been used by many other game providers under licence and even has its own area in the lobby at many an online casino.
Strictly speaking Megaways just means variable height reels combined with a ways to win paytable, but most of the really exciting Megaways games also feature the cascading symbols and/or extra horizontal reel of the original Bonanza game.
Now, Big Time Gaming have released a new Bonanza game – Bonanza Falls. It’s still Megaways, but it also has their newest game feature, Megadozer. And wow, what a feature!
Megadozer – How It Works
Start to play Bonanza Falls and you’ll immediately start to wonder what all the fuss is about and even whether you’ve got the right game, as the base game is almost indistinguishable from the original Bonanza. But once you trigger the bonus round (and you could be waiting quite a long time for that), it’s a very different story!
Just as in the original game, the bonus round in Bonanza Falls is triggered by spinning up 4 or more scatter symbols to spell G-O-L-D. The bonus round consists of 12 free spins plus an extra 4 free spins for each extra scatter and just as in the original game, there’s a multiplier that goes up by 1 on every win (whether it’s a spin or a cascade)
When the bonus round starts, that’s when the Megadozer comes in, taking the space that’s occupied in the base game by the mine carts (i.e. the horizontal reel). It’s modelled on the sort of coin falls game that you might find at a seaside amusement arcade. On every spin, and on every cascade, coins may be added (sometimes they stay around and sometimes they drop through the grille at the back and are lost) and the pusher may push coins down on to the reels.
There are four types of coin that can drop:
- Multiplier wilds
- Random symbols that count for multiple instances
- Add one to the free spins multiplier
- Add 4 more free spins
In the above screenshot, three x2 wilds and two random symbols coins have just landed. The Jx3 means that for the purposes of scoring there are a total of 4 of the J symbols on reel 2. Combined with the three x2 wilds and the 14x multiplier that’s already in force, that’s very potent.
Later on in the same bonus round, we see a coin dropping after a win and before the cascading symbols are replaced on the reels. We only find out what type of coin it is when it lands.
Win Exchange Feature
The Megadozer makes what was already a thrilling bonus round even more exciting, and if buying the bonus round wasn’t banned at UK facing casinos there would certainly be players queuing up to do just that. But wait – Big Time Gaming have also come up with Win Exchange, an additional way of getting to the bonus round. They way it works is this:
- If you win 100x your stake or more in the base game, you can exchange 100x your stake for a bonus round of 12 free spins
- If you win between 25x your stake and 100x your stake in the base game, you can exchange your entire win for a spin the wheel game which gives you a chance to win a bonus round of 12 free spins
Bonanza Falls will surely be just the first of many games with this high octane new feature!
