Fluffy Favourites Cash Collect

This latest game in the Fluffy Favourites series (which has been much loved by bingo players for many years) was produced by Playtech through their Origins studio, rather than through their subsidiary Eyecon. The other first to note is that it’s the first in the series to use Playtech’s unique game mechanic Cash Collect.

The original edition is regarded as a classic and is one of the more influential slot titles to emerge from the 2000s. It has also been the subject of controversy in 2020, when one operator fell foul of the 2017 UKGC ban on the use of cartoon imagery to promote gambling sites. (Which is why we haven’t included any full screenshots of the game in this review).

After a long gap between the original fairground-and-cuddly-toy edition, launched in 2006 and the sequel, Fluffy Too, in 2016, Eyecon went on to produce another ten. Fluffy Favourites Cash Collect is number nine in the series. Launched in 2024, it’s a five-reel, three-row, medium-volatility slot with a modest 30 fixed paylines and an RTP of 93.67% – 95.67%.

How to Play Fluffy Favourites Cash Collect

While the previous game in the series Fluffy Favourites 10 did not differ significantly from what had gone before, Fluffy Favourites Cash Collect is more of a departure, as you might expect given that Playtech was in the driving seat for this game.

The aesthetic is very much the same, but there are some major gameplay differences, including an increase in paylines from ten in Fluffy Favourites 10 (and other Fluffy games) to 30 here.

The base game symbols in Fluffy 10 are made up of nine fluffy animals, ranging from the fish to the hippo, the latter being worth x3000 your stake if you land five of them. As well as these symbols, there’s the famous pink elephant wild, which can substitute for most of the others, and the claw Scatter, which triggers the Free Spins round. There are also four jackpot symbols, coins ranging from x1 to x15 and the Cash Collect icon, which is the key to the game’s feature bonus.

Collect the Cash

The Cash Collect bonus is part of the base gameplay, rather than a separately triggered bonus round (like the one in Fluffy In Space). It works in the same way as the money fish model in the Big Bass Bonanza series, except in this case, landing the Cash Collect symbol means you can claim all of the coin values. The Cash Collect feature can also trigger during the Free Spins bonus. In this case, the symbol remains frozen for three spins, allowing for more wins.

Find the Claw for Free Spins

The Claw scatter is the key to the Free Spins round. Landing Scatters on the first and fifth reels will trigger the bonus, and in this case, the multipliers on the coin symbols on the reels determine how many free spins the player has. During the Free Spins bonus, it is still possible to land regular wins, and the feature can be retriggered.

Four Flavours of Jackpot

Everyone loves a jackpot and the addition of a fixed jackpot mechanic to the Fluffy Favourites base game is a welcome tweak of the original formula. There are four fixed jackpots available with increasing multiplier figures:

• Grand: x500
• Major: x200
• Minor: x50
• Mini: x20

Once again, the Cash Collect symbol is the key to this feature. To claim a jackpot, you have to land the Cash Collect icon at the same time as a jackpot symbol. The jackpots can be claimed multiple times, so there are no unnecessary limitations, which is good to see.

Our Verdict

Fluffy Favourites was ahead of its times when it was released, anticipating the rise of social games such as Candy Crush, and introducing a more chilled, laid-back style of slot, though this also means it has sometimes inadvertently skirted close to the rules on not using themes and imagery with strong appeal to minors to promote gambling.

Most of the sequels didn’t add very much of significance to the original, but Fluffy Favourites Cash Collect does manage to breathe new life into the game, with the addition of both the four jackpots and the Cash Collect mechanic. The new features may even be enough to persuade those deterred by the sub-96% RTP to take another look at this influential series of slot games, especially as Fluffy Favourites Cash Collect can be played for 10p a spin whereas earlier games in the series had a 25p minimum stake.
