Disco Diamonds is a five reel slot from Play ‘n Go that’s our belated slot of the month for October. With a bonus wheel side-game, locked wilds and a free spins feature, the game is proving pretty popular with UK players at the minute.
Theme/Visuals
Disco Diamonds lacks the visual embellishments present in similarly-themed slots such as Disco Danny. In fact, the game is retro to its core. Old-school symbols such as triple sevens, fruit icons and bars decorate the reels which are set against a kind of neon-lit nightclub seen. Game-play is supported by an electronic soundtrack that’s more Synth-pop than disco.
How to Play Disco Diamonds
The base game is fairly conventional, comprising a standard 5 x 3 configuration with up to 243 ways to win. It’s an ‘all ways’ slot which means that wins are possible by landing adjacent symbols from left to right.
Of the standard retro slot-machine reel icons, the diamond pays out most – should five appear, you’ll be receive five times your initial stake. There are two wild symbols – a silver and golden disco ball. The silver wild replaces all other symbols apart from the bonus wheel scatter, while the golden ball unlocks the re-spins bonus feature.
Bonus Features
Disco Diamond includes three bonus features: the disco re-spin, the bonus wheel game and a free spins round.
Disco Re-Spin
The disco re-spin is unlocked by unveiling at least one golden disco ball in any position. Wilds that appear are then converted into golden ball symbols and fixed in position for one re-spin. If you manage to unveil a golden disco ball wild, you’ll receive another re-spin and an incremental multiplier comes into play.
The Bonus Wheel
The bonus wheel game is triggered by getting at least three related scatter symbols and you’ll then be able to spin for free spins (5, 7, 10 or 20) and cash prizes (5, 7, 25, 50 times your stake).
The Free Spins Feature
Should you win free spins via the bonus wheel game, both wild variants become golden which will make it easier to activate re-spins. In addition, the multipliers don’t reset between spins but instead carry over to the next.
Conclusion
Visually, there’s little wrong with Disco Spins. Play is of course centered round the re-spins feature – this is helped no-end by the golden disco ball wilds which will help to extend the round. Unfortunately, the free spins feature isn’t all that frequent – in most cases, the bonus wheel awards multipliers. And don’t expect to win the max 10,000x max pay-out either. Although of course possible, your best bet is to focus on those free spin re-spins, so to speak.
