Our slot of the month for November is Buffalo Blitz Megaways – the third entry in Playtech’s popular slot series about even-toed ungulates. Theme/Visuals

The game is set on the grassy plains of North America – the developers haven’t exactly pushed the boat out here though because it’s the same brooding landscape present in the previous two Buffalo Blitz slots.

In the background plays the same brooding orchestral lament too. Perhaps it’s an ode to the demise of the American bison population…perhaps not. So there’s not a great deal to report in terms of theme and visuals – BBM is very much like the others in the series as far as appearances go. But what about the game play and reel symbols?

How to Play Buffalo Blitz Megaways

Because of the BGT mechanic, the game comprises six reels instead of five with each one holding two to seven symbols. Above the second, third, fourth and fifth reels is a single row of reel positions which moves horizontally with each spin adding matching symbols when possible.

Along with playing card symbols, the reels are decorated with familiar renderings of various animals one might associate with North America, including a racoon, bear, moose, wild cat and of course a buffalo. The latter symbol is the most valuable, paying out 6x your stake if it lands six times in combination. It can also appear stacked on every reel.

A diamond wild is also in play which substitutes for all other symbols save the scatter. It appears on the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth reels as well as the extra reel and can also randomly multiply wins by up to 10x in the free games round. To trigger said round, you’ll need to land the scatter four five or six times in any position.

Buffalo Blitz Megaways’ four free games features mark a major improvement on the previous titles. Each one has different benefits that tend to balance each other out. Once you’ve activated the feature, you’ll be able to choose from one of four variants. Here are the pros and cons of each one:

BBM is hooked up to Playtech’s Jackpot Blitz network which means that one of four jackpot bonus game can trigger randomly during a base game spin. Manage to activate it and the game area changes to a 5 x 4 reel set. This is populated with 20 diamond symbols that can reveal jackpot symbols. Reveal three of one jackpot type and you’ll receive the related pay-out.

Conclusion

Despite bearing a very, very close resemblance to the other Buffalo Blitz entries, BBM is saved by its four free spin game modes, the Jackpot Blitz feature and of course the ever-popular Megaways mechanic.
