Beat the Bobbies at the Tower of London

Beat the Bobbies at the Tower of London is our slot of the month for May. Yep, Penny and her light-fingered confederates are back thanks to Eyecon’s sequel to their popular heist-themed reel-spinner. After plundering Buckingham Palace the last time round, the cutesy cat burglar has this time set her sights on the Tower of London. So it’s your job to help her steal the crown jewels, while hopefully winning some money along the way.
Theme/Visuals
Beat the Bobbies at the Tower of London (BTB2) is replete with the same rogue’s gallery of cute and cuddly characters that graced the first installment, with a few minor tweaks here and there. Instead of the Windsor’s Royal residence, the Tower of London now serves as a backdrop for the base game which comprises five reels and 243 ways to win. Play is accompanied by a jolly, slightly manic melody that’s a good match for Eyecon’s latest crime-themed caper.
How to Play Beat the Bobbies at the Tower of London
As ever, the object of the core game is to land three or more symbols on adjacent reels from left to right. They pay out in any position apart from the scatters which pay out wherever they appear. Standard symbols are signified by a crown, a diamond, a pair of earrings, an old man, a grandmother, a beefeater and of course a bobby. Although highly reminiscent of the original game, a new random prize feature has been included that can pay out as much as 100x your stake. There’s also a free spins bonus – more of these in a minute.
Wild Symbols and Scatter Symbols
A truncheon wielding policeman serves as the wild. Appearing on reels two, three and four, he substitutes all other symbols apart from Penny who represents the scatter.
Random Prize Feature
The Random Prize Feature is activated when a large blue and white police car zips across the game area. After it comes to a halt in the centre of the screen you’ll be awarded with a single prize. This will range from 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x or 30x your total bet.
Free Games Bonus Feature
Land three or more Penny scatters and the Free Games Bonus Feature is activated. You’ll then be able to select one of five bonuses which are as follows:
- 20 free games with all wins multiplied by 2
- 15 free games with all wins multiplied by 3
- 10 free games with all wins multiplied by 4
- 8 free games with all wins multiplied by 5
- 5 free games with all wins multiplied by 10
Conclusion
In terms of appearances, BTB2 bears more than a passing resemblance to the first game. The reels are once again decorated with Penny and her band of rogues – the only significant changes can be found in the Tower of London backdrop which is slightly pixilated on desktop screens – clearly the developers were preoccupied with designing for smaller resolutions.
Nonetheless, the colourful assortment of cartoon characters should be of great appeal to fans of titles such as Fluffy Favourites. While the base game is fairly basic, it’s helped no end by the random prize and free games bonus features. And with an RTP of 95.477% you can expect some regular albeit small pay-outs.
All in all then, a welcome addition to Eyecon’s growing portfolio of games. There are certainly more sophisticated slots out there, but if you’re looking for an undemanding, entertaining bout of reel spinning, we recommend you give the BTB2 a try.
