Entain have just launched a new bingo game, Bingo Boom, as well as a new and much improved version of their mobile lobby.
What is Bingo Boom?
Bingo Boom is perhaps best described as bingo with a side order of a gem drop game! It’s 90 ball bingo with an added feature game. Everyone with tickets in the game can play the feature game, which is extremely enjoyable in its own right. You don’t actually win anything, however, unless you also win full house in the bingo game (in which case you win a multiplier based on your score in the feature game).
How To Play Bingo Boom
As the 90 ball game plays, the feature game runs immediately above the ticket area on a 5 column, 6 row grid (this does mean that on mobile, the bingo tickets are shown in a simplified view as seen in the screenshot). Coloured gems drop down in the centre column corresponding to the numbers called.
- 1-15 – 6 sided red gem
- 16-30 – 5 sided light green gem
- 31-45 – 5 sided orange gem
- 46 -60 – Round purple gem
- 61 – 75 – 4 sided violet gem
- 76 – 90 – 4 sided dark green gem
As the gems drop, you can shift them right or left by using the two arrows to place them in the column of your choice. This can be done on a regular screen using a mouse but it’s much easier to use a touch screen on a tablet or phone. The aim of the game is to get horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines of three (or more) of the same gem and when you do, the three gems explode and disappear and you score 10 points. A line of four or five gems attracts a higher score (currently it’s 20 points for a line of four and 40 points for a line of five but as this is a brand new game, Entain may well adjust the scores after seeing how it works with players). Of course it is MUCH harder to make a line of four or five than a line of three, because you have to line it up in two parts of two in a row each and drop the final gem in the middle to complete it – otherwise there would be a line of three gems which would explode before you could add the fourth gem.
If you fill any column to the top of the screen, your feature game ends. Otherwise it continues (with brief breaks while the 1 line and 2 line winners are declared) until somebody wins full house.
If you are the full house winner, your feature game score will be used to determine the multiplier for your prize. Currently, you need to score 100 points to reach a 2x multiplier and the multiplier goes up again at 200 points and at 300 points (again, this may well be adjusted once the game has been out for a while). 100 points is relatively easily achievable, but to reach the higher multipliers you’ll need to make lines of 4 or 5 gems as with lines of 3, you’d have to explode 60 gems and that’s probably not going to happen before full house is called.
Bingo Boom is an absorbing game that requires full attention. If you get distracted while playing the feature game and miss the first couple of calls or make a mistake with gem placement you’ll be fighting an uphill battle as the gems soon pile up and make it harder and harder to place more. Of course you can still win the regular full house prize without bothering with the feature game at all, as a score of 0 gives you a 1x multiplier.
Games of Bingo Boom play every 7 minutes and ticket prices vary from 5p to 50p
Where To Play Bingo Boom
Bingo Boom has been released at all of Entain’s bingo sites, where there’s also a new and improved version of the mobile bingo lobby making it much easier to switch between bingo gameplay, chat and mini games. Touch the reels icon on the left of where it says “your tickets” to switch to minigames and touch the chat icon on the right to switch to the chat. Not that you’ll have time to do either while playing the Bingo Boom feature game!
