The Sun newspaper’s bingo site has been around for more than 10 years and is renowned for the quality of its player promotions. It is one of the biggest UK bingo websites and until August 2016 it ran on the Gamesys bingo network. It then moved to the Virtue Fusion / Playtech bingo platform.
The new Playtech / Virtue Fusion version of the site looks very much like the original Gamesys version and not much like a Virtue Fusion site at all, and they have also managed to retain several of their previous regular promotions as well as the Sun’s exclusive slot Winning Headlines (the rest of the slots are Playtech). The Virtue Fusion network rooms are there (along with half a dozen exclusive rooms including a penny bingo room) but at relaunch, Sun Bingo did not have any of the exotic Virtue Fusion variants such as Cash Cubes or Rainbow Riches Bingo. The aforementioned Cash Cubes arrived at the start of October 2016 (on desktop as well as mobile and tablet), together with both Deal Or No Deal bingo rooms, and Rainbow Riches soon followed. Sun Bingo also now has its own exclusive bingo variants Brit 50 Bingo and Winning Headlines Bingo, plus the themed Retro 90 room. Mobile play is via Android and Apple apps.
Although the bingo lobby and bingo rooms still look much as they did at the time of the migration from Gamesys it seems that Sun Bingo has quietly brought HTML5 to the desktop without inflicting the new style bingo lobby on their players; in fact this has been done so seamlessly that the only way we were able to verify that it had happened at all was by attempting a Sun Bingo login using a browser with Flash disabled. When we tried to play bingo after login, a message appeared asking for permission to run Flash; we declined and the bingo lobby opened anyway, in HTML5 but looking and playing very like the Flash version. If (as many do) you hate the new style Playtech bingo lobby this could be just the bingo site for you.
Sun Bingo is known for its outstanding player promotions including prize draws and bonus games.
