888 Casino is a well respected online casino with a very long history and a great selection of games including many 888 exclusives.
When we say 888 Casino has a long history, we mean a REALLY long history. It’s one of the oldest online casinos and was originally launched in 1997 (yes, you did read that right) but was called something else until 2010 when it rebranded as 888 Casino. A truly international brand, it has since won multiple awards, obtained operating licences in a number of other regions including New Jersey and Ontario and attracted more than 26 million players. The organisation behind 888 Casino is evoke plc (the new name for 888 Holdings plc) and they also own the retail and online arms of William Hill.
For many years the 888 brand was associated with bingo; their purchase of Globalcom back in 2008 resulted in their building an empire of hundreds of house owned and white label bingo sites but this came to an end in 2022 with the sale of their entire bingo business to Broadway Gaming. The 888 Sports and 888 Poker brands are still in existence and linked from the 888 Casino site.
Despite its age, 888 Casino has a very modern looking player interface offering several different ways to find games you want to play. You can filter on some of the most popular game providers or on volatility, features or themes (e.g. fish, Irish, Egyptian). You can search, and turn up results after you’ve entered just two characters. Or you can browse the carousels on the main slots page – Slingo, Treasures of Egypt, The Fish Market and Hollywood Slots are some of the thematic groupings featured there, along with games of the week, top exclusive slots, Megaways, daily jackpots, Drops & Wins, crash games and more. The total number of slot games on offer is more than 1000, including many absolute classics like Immortal Romance, Bonanza and Book of Dead, and there’s no major omissions of game providers.
888 Casino has a number of exclusive slot games including various versions of Holy Mackerel and the Millionaire Genie progressive jackpot. These used to be much more widely available but after 888 sold its bingo business they were removed from Dragonfish bingo and slot sites and now, 888 Casino is one of only a couple of places you can play these games (another is William Hill Vegas).
The selection of progressive jackpots is also excellent. There’s two daily jackpots, but not the Red Tiger ones you were probably expecting; they are on 888 exclusive slots. Red Tiger games are in evidence too, with an hourly jackpot. Then there’s Jackpot Giant, Age of the Gods and Sporting Legends by Playtech, Jackpot King by Blueprint, Mega Fortune by Netent, the aforementioned Millionaire Genie and several other 888 exclusive jackpots including Mad Max Fury Road.
The live casino at 888 Casino has a very wide range of roulette, blackjack, baccarat and video poker tables including a number of 888 exclusives, plus a selection of game shows from Evolution, Pragmatic Play and Playtech.
The casino also has an attached blog which includes some extremely detailed articles about blackjack strategy and related topics as well as some very interesting and entertaining digressions such as the history of casino buffet food, and unlike most casino blogs it seems to be updated regularly.
The only thing about 888 Casino that is slightly underwhelming is the promotions page; when we visited, the only thing on the page apart from the welcome offer was Pragmatic Play’s widely networked Drops & Wins promotion. We would have liked to see some exclusives.
888 Casino offers a good varied range of payment methods and there are no charges for using any of them. The bonusing is easy to understand and bonuses have a long expiry and a wagering requirement that’s lower than at many other online casinos.
If you don’t already have an account at 888 Casino, it is very much worth a try – especially if you have previously played at a Dragonfish site and miss Millionaire Genie and the other 888 exclusive games.
30x bonus on slots, some games excluded (list on site)
The Responsible Gaming page is UK specific and covers everything that is required by the Gambling Commission in easy to digest chunks. They only have the mandated safer gambling tools (deposit limits, reality check, take a break and self exclusion. A separate FAQ explains how deposit limits, product blocks and self exclusion work if you have accounts with both 888 Casino and William Hill.
