Wombat Bingo is actually a rebrand of a much older site (Jackpot Paradise) so you may well find you’ve already got an account there. If not, Playtech bingo and player promotions are the USPs of this brand.
The people behind Wombat Bingo have many years of experience of running UK facing bingo sites, including the likes of Chit Chat Bingo and Queen’s Bingo. They are well known for their approach to player promotions, almost always running their own promotions as well as any promotions the network offers.
Wombat Bingo is not actually a new site – it’s a rebrand of Jackpot Paradise, a Progress Play site that dates all the way back to 2012 and which has had bingo for more than a year. If you’re a fan of Playtech bingo, you may therefore have come across and signed up at the site under its original name; if you did, you’ll find your login credentials work at Wombat Bingo but you won’t be able to claim the welcome offer again.
The rebrand and redesign itself is great! Jackpot Paradise had pretty well zero theming but now, the cheeky wombat (who’s dressed as an Elvis impersonator) is all over the site and promotions. Because of the emphasis on bingo, the sportsbook part of the site (which had only recently been added) has been dropped.
If you’ve ever played at at Progress Play site before you will be familiar with the registration process. The main thing to bear in mind is that you will need your phone to hand (with a UK number) even if you’re using a different device to sign up with, because one of the steps involves entering a code which they text to you.
As previously mentioned, if you had an account at Jackpot Paradise it will transfer over so no need to re-register.
Wombat Bingo has exactly the bingo rooms you’d expect to find at a Progress Play site – i.e. a fantastic selection of different types of bingo with worthwhile prizes and hosted chat. Powered by industry leader Playtech, the line up at the time of writing looks like this:
There’s plenty here to keep any bingo lover happy and there are some very powerful prebuy facilities in the Prebuy part of the lobby, for those times when you want to buy tickets but aren’t going to be around when the game actually plays. You can search for games by type of bingo, game features, ticket price, date (up to 30 days ahead) or time of day, or quickly view and but tickets for anything that’s coming up in the next two hours.
The bingo lobby also has a Games tab where you can play lots of popular slot games from Playtech and Eyecon. These are also available in minigame versions inside any bingo room.
It’s not so much a question of “slots and games” at Wombat Bingo as of “mainly slots”. There are no live casino games of any description, but there are a few non live dealer casino games in the Table Games part of the lobby, including several novelty themed versions of roulette. The other place to find non slot games is the Casual section, which is packed with a motley selection of scratchcards, pachinko, crash games, lotto, mines, Lucky Tap and so on.
Slot games, however, are what it’s really all about, and there’s more than 4000 of those to choose from a big range of providers (Relax Gaming is perhaps the most noticeable omission). With such a very large number of games to choose from, it’s helpful to have free demo versions available, as they do on most of their games (you have to be logged in to play).
It’s also essential, with this number of games, to have a search box as otherwise you could spend hours scrolling through the lobby (which doesn’t have a lot of categorisation or any filtering). They do indeed have one of these and you can search for providers as well as for game names; results start to show up when you’ve typed in two characters. You can also add games to your favourites by clicking or tapping the little heart icon on the game tile but annoyingly this only shows up on game tiles in the lobby, not in the search results.
If you want to find out more information about a game such as volatility, features or return to player you will need to open the game and check the in game documentation as these things are not shown in the lobby. It is definitely worth checking as Progress Play have set some variable RTPs at the low end e.g. Book Of Dead at 91.25%.
Wombat Bingo has more than 200 jackpot slots but this lobby section is actually a bit disappointing as it’s dominated by games from Playtech and Eyecon, with a few from Greentube and Red Tiger. It would be nice to see a bit more variety and given the number of Blueprint games on site it’s surprising that there’s no Jackpot King.
Wombat Bingo has some great player promotions. As well as the Playtech network bingo promotions, there are several redpeosit promotions to choose from most of which can be claimed multiple times. Free spins, slots bonus, bingo bonus and games bonus (this last being a flexible bonus that can be used on bingo and/or minigames) are all on offer and the lineup of promotions is refreshed each month. Be aware, though, that most promotions here have a win cap. Wombat Bingo also has the Progress Play network Reward Programme which awards points as you play.
The range of deposit options is another strong point, with lots to choose from. Most can be used to claim the welcome offer and other promotions, with only Skrill and Neteller excluded, but be aware that some have a minimum deposit of £15 or £20 not £10. You will also need to pay a (modest) processing fee when you make a withdrawal by whatever method.
I didn’t need to use customer support but it seems better than at other Progress Play casinos as the chat bubble is available when you aren’t logged in (which helps if you have a login issue!). It pops up when you select the Support option on the menu, along with the Help Centre which is basically FAQs. If you do need to use it your initial contact will be with a chatbot, with the issue sent on to the team if necessary.
Wombat Bingo is not the first bingo site to launch on the Progress Play platform with bingo powered by Playtech and it won’t be the last either – it’s a formula that seems to work very well. What sets this particular brand aside from others is the extra player promotions and the focus on bingo. Enjoy!
At Best New Bingo Sites all of our reviews are completely honest and written by industry experts. We aim to present all our offers as transparently as possible with a full explanation of the terms and conditions. We receive commission from the sites we feature and this may affect how prominently they appear on our site and their position in our listings.
Safer gambing provision is standard across all Progress Play sites and is a lot better than it looks. The Play Responsibly page which is linked from the site footer could really do with a rewrite and redesign to make it easier to read and understand, but once you decipher it you’ll find that they offer several extra player controls over and above the deposit limits, reality check, time-out and self exclusion. Daily, weekly and monthly wagering and loss limits can be set and so can session limits.
