What Is The Money Drop Bingo?
The Money Drop Bingo is a new 80 ball bingo game on the Playtech owned Virtue Fusion bingo software. It’s officially themed on the TV Show which has been variously known as The Million Pound Drop and The £100K Drop depending on the prize money on offer; The Money Drop Bingo features a variable progressive jackpot which is a much more modest sum.
How To Play The Money Drop Bingo
Each game of The Money Drop Bingo has a regular prize pool with prizes for 1, 2, 3 and 4 columns, and a progressive jackpot. To have a chance of winning the progressive jackpot, you must play the feature game which runs alongside the 80 ball bingo game, and to do that you must have at least 5 tickets in play in the bingo game.
When you hear the words progressive jackpot, you probably immediately imagine a large amount which drops very rarely; the progressive jackpot in The Money Drop Bingo is quite the reverse as it’s seeded at just £50 and it drops very often. Nevertheless, it’s usually more than the regular prize pool for the game; this is because quite a bit of the ticket price (25%, according to the game documentation) goes towards seeding and growing the jackpot rather than the regular prize pool which makes buying fewer than 5 tickets for one of these games a poor proposition for players. Tickets are modestly priced so that buying 5 isn’t a stretch; they vary from game to game between 5p (with a maximum purchase of 70 tickets), 10p (with a maximum purchase of 40 tickets) or 15p (with a maximum purchase of 35 tickets) and are available from the schedule as well as in the room itself.
The feature game plays at the same time as the bingo game. After the first 4 calls, the bingo game pauses for the first round of the feature game. You’ll be shown 4 trapdoors, corresponding to ball numbers 1-20, 21-40, 41-60 and 61-80. Choose a trapdoor to put your token on; if you don’t choose one before the coutdown ends (or bought 5 tickets from the schedule but aren’t in the room when the game actually plays) you’ll be randomly assigned to one of them.
The number of the next ball determines which of the 4 trapdoors DOESN’T open, and if you chose that trapdoor you progress to the next round. The other three trapdoors open and everyone who chose one of them is eliminated.
After another 4 calls the second round of the feature game takes place; everyone who hasn’t already been eliminated chooses a trapdoor again and the round plays out as before. There are 4 rounds of the feature game altogether with these possible eventual outcomes:
- Everyone gets eliminated – the jackpot rolls over to the next game
- Only one player is left after 4 rounds – they win the jackpot and it’s reset to its seed value for the next game
- More than one player is left after 4 rounds – they share the jackpot and it’s reset to its seed value for the next game
After all 4 rounds of the feature games have taken place, the 80 ball bingo game continues to play and the column prizes are awarded until someone completes all 4 columns.
The feature game is a really nice addition, and is a big improvement on other Virtue Fusion feature games (even Deal or No Deal Bingo!) for the following reasons:
- Everyone can play the feature game (assuming they bought enough tickets), not just the full house winner or winners
- It adds entertainment during the early stages of the bingo game when it can otherwise be a bit boring as no-one’s close to a win yet
Where To Play The Money Drop Bingo
The Money Drop Bingo is available to play at most but not all Virtue Fusion bingo sites, and currently (May 2023) the room is open from 5pm till midnight, seven days a week.
