The Goonies Hey You Guys

Our slot of the month for August is The Goonies Hey You  Guys – the latest addition to the series of branded slot games from Blueprint. The first was released back in 2018 and went on to be a big hit. Another two followed including a Jackpot King variant as well as a scratch-card. As is typical of the series, TGHYG features highly-polished presentation and a lively soundtrack.

Theme/Visuals

The game area is set against an ancient parchment which itself is set against a ship’s deck. To the left of the reels are installed four jackpot prizes. The ‘Hey You Guy’s phrase belongs to Sloth and you’ll hear it throughout the game. Along with Sloth are all the main characters including Mikey, Mouth and Data. It all looks great, especially the reel animations which is what you’d expect from a big-budget branded slot game.

How to Play The Goonies Hey You Guys

TGHYG is a five reel slot with just ten bet ways that pay from left to right. To win, you’ll need to land at least three matching symbols. Low value symbols are represented by playing card symbols, with the character symbols serving as premium ones. Date pays out up to 10x your stake for five of a kind wins, Mouth pays out x10 while Mikey is the most lucrative paying up to 20x your stake.

A non-paying wild is in play replacing other symbols to hopefully create winning pay-lines. A skeletal pirate is the bonus scatter.

Cash Collect Feature

Also in play are cash symbols which appear on reels one to four. Should the slot collect scatter appear as well, the cash collect feature is activated and you’ll get the chance to win one of the four jackpots: mini, minor, major and mega.

The respin slot symbol is also activated. When this collects cash symbols, the boost symbol kicks in. When this also collects cash symbols, the super collect symbol appears. When all four of these are in play, they’re unlocked for the bonus game and free spins. Here’s an outline of how it works.

Final Thoughts

Blueprint has resisted the temptation to overly imitate its previous Goonies instalments. Sure, the nuts and bolts of the actual game are quite similar – namely, unveil money symbols together with cash symbols to win money.

However, TGHYG requires you to activate the collector symbols one by one in contrast to previous games where all four were available right away.
