Immortal Romance: Vein of Gold
Stormcraft Studios have returned to their flagship vampire franchise with Immortal Romance: Vein of Gold, the fourth entry in a series that began with Immortal Romance all the way back in 2011. Since then, we’ve seen the progressive jackpot game Immortal Romance Mega Moolah (2021), released under the name of Stormcraft’s former parent company Microgaming/Games Global, and the 2022 release Immortal Romance 2.
Vein of Gold doesn’t stray from the aesthetic of the original, retaining all of the familiar gothic visuals and moody lighting, along with the main characters Sarah, Michael, Troy, and Amber. It’s a high volatility slot with the same 92% to 96% RTP range as its predecessor, but with some key gameplay and bonus feature upgrades.
How to Play Immortal Romance: Vein of Gold
The base game is played on a six-reel, four-row layout, with 4,096 ways to win, compared to the 5×3 layout of Immortal Romance 2 with its 243 paylines. The symbols include stylised royals, thrones and chalices, character portraits, while the Immortal Romance logo is still used as the Wild, and the golden lion doorknocker is the Scatter.
One new element is the addition of cash symbols that can land anywhere on the reels. These have fixed values, and are paid out when the Cash Collect symbol (a large drop of blood) lands on reels 1 or 6. This is the biggest gameplay change from the last edition, and as well as adding a new element to the base game, it’s also the foundation of the jackpot system.

Rising Rewards Jackpots
The new jackpot system is another upgrade on the previous games. Replacing the Jackpot Wheel of Immortal Romance 2 is a more structured jackpot bonus. There are four jackpots here, each linked to one of the game. When cash symbols land on the reels with no Cash Collect icon, they add to the jackpot prize fund, which can go up to 2500 times your stake. Jackpot wins are triggered at random when you scoop a Cash Collect payout.

Bonus Multiplier
Another key mechanic in the base game is the Bonus Multiplier. Every time two Scatter symbols land without a third, the multiplier increases by x0.5, up to a maximum of x5. This multiplier then applies to all wins during the next bonus feature you trigger.
Flexible Bonus Options
One of the big changes in this edition of the series is the choice of two bonus features. If three or more Scatter symbols land, you’ll be offered a choice between Free Spins and Vein Of Gold.
- The Free Spins bonus gives you between 8 and 30 free spins, depending on how many Scatters you landed to trigger it. During the Free Spins bonus, Wilds are still limited to the middle reels, and the high value symbols are not available, which significantly reduces the win potential compared to earlier games; this isn’t always offset by the Bonus Multiplier.
Visually and structurally, this mode feels closest to the original Immortal Romance. It’s the safer choice of the two features, especially for players looking for consistent mid-level payouts. - The other option is the Vein of Gold bonus. This gives you 2 to 7 spins in which a Cash Collect symbol is guaranteed to land on every spin. This bonus features a couple of additional boosts. The Retrigger adds an extra spin to the game, while the Collect Retrigger duplicates and awards all of the cash prizes won so far in the bonus game and gives you an additional spin. This is something new to the franchise, and offers the potential for bigger payouts.
Our Verdict
Immortal Romance: Vein of Gold marks an interesting shift for the series. Previous games leaned much more on narrative and cinematic cutscenes, whereas this edition takes a more mechanical approach, significantly upgrading the bonus features and giving it more of a gameplay focus, while offering more ways to land a win.
The changes don’t affect the aesthetics and the overall feel of the game so fans of the slot franchise won’t be disgruntled, and the gameplay itself is a significant jump forward.
