Launched in 2021, The Vic is the online presence of London’s legendary Grosvenor Victoria Casino and of course, just like the original it’s open 24/7 (and very popular with our users).
When I asked to write this review the first thought that popped into my head was the late great Barbara Windsor shouting “Get Out Of My Casino.” However, the fictional Eastenders pub The Queen Victoria and The Vic Casino, although both based in the city of London, are worlds away from each other.
This land based casino is based in central London near the distinctive Marble Arch. This charming and elegant casino includes a fine dining restaurant, a famous Poker room and even an alfresco gaming area. Operated by the Rank Group, this experienced gaming provider has transferred the ambience of The Vic into a now online casino experience from the convenience of your own home. Now you can still go “alfresco” even if it is sitting in your garden on a nice summer day. The online version of The Vic has been open since 2021 and you can play table games streamed live from The Vic and other Rank Group Casinos.
My first impression was how well designed their website looks, it has a bit of personality without it being over the top. Set on a dark royal blue and gold background, links are at the top in white leading you to various parts of their casino. Some of their promotions are also flashed across the top with everything you really need on their homepage, including links to live chat support and safer gambling at the bottom. The website includes a whole section about the venue right down to being able to check out the restaurant menu and book a table, and you can even launch online versions of several of the slot games from the page about the game floor.
Signing up and registering is very simple, quick and takes a couple of minutes. There are also options to set deposit limits and reality checks before you begin your player experience. If you want to take advantage of The Vic’s generous welcome offer, you can opt into this by selecting the promotion when depositing for the first time. Please be mindful that if you deposit via Paypal you won’t qualify for the welcome offer.
The Vic will take a few minutes to verify your account before you can deposit. However, you could be asked for further verification before you play. Being required to provide ID is completely normal and nothing to worry about. My experiences with the Rank Group vary, on rare occasions you could find yourself unable to log into your account without either reason or contact from the casino. This can be frustrating but this is more than likely account verification. Live chat will advise you how to verify your account, this is normally via email and can take a few days.
The Vic is much more than just table games even though these are very well represented. Alongside this they supply an array of slot games and you are spoiled for choice from top providers. Under Slots from the homepage menu there are a number of genres to choose from these include, Popular which has Bonanza from Big Time Gaming and Big Bass Bonanza from Pragmatic Play. Under the New section you can find Willy Wonka Pure Imagination by Light and Wonder and Gods of Olympus 4 by Iron Dog. At the time of writing these games are brand new and quite exclusive with this section being added to very regularly. A great feature is the In-Club section which includes old classic Blood Suckers by Net Ent. Talking of Classic slots this has its own section too, home to Cygnus 2 by Elk Studios and Burn 7s Burn by Inspired. The Megaways slots area has 25+ titles which includes Pragmatic Play’s Extra Juicy Megaways. Speaking of Pragmatic Play there is a convenient area devoted to Drops and Wins titles.
The choice of titles becomes even broader when it comes to the Jackpot slots area. Under a separate menu heading altogether there are a good 100+ selections supplied by a number of top providers. This section has its own genres as it has so much choice. With Mega Moolah, Wow Pots, Jackpot King, King Millions and Mega Jackpots all represented titles include, Immortal Romance, Gems Gone Wild and Top Cat to name drop a few.
Navigating your way around is generally pretty good. There is a search feature where you can look for your favourite titles. You can’t search by provider here or add any titles to a favourites tab, but you can view them in alphabetical order. This doesn’t really affect the player experience as it doesn’t really take too long to scroll through the various options. It does feel that The Vic offers a range of slot games which are tailored towards their land based casino customers. There is a choice but it’s not overloaded with around 800+ slot titles.
Alongside their respectable selection of slot games there is a whole scope of good live casino options at The Vic. Under the Live Casino from the homepage menu, options are then again split into different genres. As mentioned before you can stream Live Roulette from The Vic and various other land based venues in their casino family. Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat all have their own sections and are mainly powered by Evolution. I did notice a Live Game Show section but there were mainly Roulette games present which I found a little strange. There are a handful of Game Shows available but they seem to be scattered around the other different genres. I did see the popular Crazy Time and Lighting Storm but had to hunt around a little bit. Again there are also 10+ Slingo titles which are growing in popularity but hard to find unless you search with most titles hidden within the Scratchcard section.
On a positive note, there is an outstanding range of classic video casino options consisting of Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat and Poker in the Table section. But again these options have Live Casino alternatives mixed into the different sections. It would enhance the all round player experience if The Vic kept the right games in the right genres. Furthermore, there is a small variety of Scratchcards and I noticed a few Crash games including Stock Market.
There are a variety of promotions at The Vic which includes a good value welcome offer on your first 3 deposits. Don’t forget to select this option from the drop down box at the cashier. Ongoing offers include daily free spins for slot play, seasonal tournaments with a variety of prizes and a daily wheel.
The Vic also runs a loyalty scheme where you can earn Vic coins for your game play. This is rewarded as a bonus with wagering requirements.
The Vic is also accessible through a mobile browser which looks exactly the same as the desktop version. Just for the fact of convenience only is the mobile version preferred slightly. With the look and navigation of the site mirrored. At the time of writing there is currently a mobile app available for Android but not for IOS users.
The Vic offers great Live Support options which are available 7 days a week via their support link at the bottom of their homepage. You can contact them by either Live chat or by a good old fashioned phone call which is great to see.
The all round feeling I get at The Vic is respectable and professional. Their homepage is really good with links to pretty much all they offer there. They are part of the well established Rank Group which gives you added security and peace of mind that your game play is with a highly repiable company. I did find various games scattered around in the wrong genres, but in the big scheme of things the main fundamentals worked perfectly fine with their site providing great games and an overall pleasant gaming experience.
50 x (deposit + bonus) on slots (all progressive jackpots and some other games excluded). 35 x spins winnings on Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways only.
Rank Digital’s Responsible Gaming policy is clearly written and as well as covering all the basics it includes extra tools such as the ability to set a daily, weekly and/or monthly Net Deposit Loss Limit across all of their sites.
How do I get back on to this site. I keep getting error messages that the site can’t be reached. I have money in it
Checked this morning and it seems to be working fine – looks like it was just a temporary outage
