What Is The EGR Operator Awards Virtual Race?
The EGR Operator Awards Virtual Race is under way! This exciting event challenges participants to walk, cycle or run 30, 60, 90 or 120+ miles over one month in aid of YGAM and GamCare, and over the past few weeks, people from across the eGaming sector have come together to raise money for these safer gambling charities.
- YGAM works with teenagers to educate and inform about problematic gaming and gambling behaviour.
- GamCare runs support services for people affected by gambling related harm, including a 24 hour helpline.
As well as improving awareness about these good causes, EGR’s new initiative – which is being run in conjunction with Safer Gambling Week 2020 – has provided some welcome relief for the eGaming community during such challenging times.
The race is open to anyone but especially targetted at nominees for the EGR Operator Awards 2020. Given that we’re on the shortlist for Bingo Affiliate of the Year, we thought we’d do our bit!
What We’re Doing
In order to reach our fundraising goal of £200, we’re aiming to complete more than 120 miles as a team by November 10.
Best New Bingo Sites’s very own Sue Dawson has been racking up the mileage on foot. Sometimes accompanied by family and friends, she’s been walking all over South West London, from the banks of the Grand Union Canal to the wild expanses of Hounslow Heath. Undeterred by wind and rain, she passed the 90 mile mark on 1st November and looks set to complete 120 miles on her own.
Harrison Score from our sister site WDW Bingo is also participating (albeit with a less ambitious target mileage).
Check back after 10th November to find out whether or not we made it and how much we raised!
In the meantime, if you’d like to help us smash the £200 target, please visit our fundraising page to donate.
