Dazzle Me Megaways is our slot of the month for May. Like its classic predecessor, the game isn’t exactly feature-laden, nor is it very imaginative in the visuals department. But thanks to the BGT make-over and a win potential that’s worth more than 60 times that of the original, the game is going down very will players at the time of writing.

Theme/Visuals

DMM is one of the first Megaways games from Netent in quite a while, with the industrious Swedes usually leaving this sort of thing to trusty subsidiary, Red Tiger. But given the intense popularity of BGT’s prolific slot engine, it’s unlikely to be the last. Anyway, DMM looks strikingly similar to the first game, albeit with crisper visuals and smoother animations.

In the background plays a dull, unassuming synthesised ditty that’s got ‘incidental’ written all over it. So happily, it doesn’t really get in the way. The atypical six reel game area is set against a glittering abstract backdrop – decorating the reels once gain is an assortment of gems and fruit machine symbols including four-leaf clovers, a golden bell and lucky 7.

How to Play Dazzle Me Megaways

The goal is to land symbols in any position across adjacent reels starting from the left. Manage this and you’ll score a Megaways win. During each spin between two and nine symbols will appear on a reel. The most valuable is the lucky 7, paying up to 3 times your stake if it appears six times on adjacent reels.

Diamond Wild Symbol

Central to the base game is the diamond wild symbol. As with all standard wilds, it substitutes others to help form winning combinations. Because of the Megaways engine, all winning symbols are removed from the reels with news ones falling into place. This continues until paying combos are no longer possible.

Dazzling Wild Reels Feature

The Dazzling Wild Reels feature is also important to play and is randomly activated for reels two to six during any standard spin (it’s guaranteed to be active during the free spins round). This can turn as many as three reels completely wild. In the main game, all reel positions are made up of Wilds for the first spin with non-wild symbols appearing during avalanches.

Free Spins Round

To activate the free spins round, you’ll need to land four free spins symbols in any position during the base game. Eight free spins are then awarded together with another four for each extra triggering symbol that appeared.

During the free spins round, at least one Dazzling Wild Reel symbol will be in play for each spin with only wild symbols appearing during avalanches and Dazzling Wild reels. For the latter feature, counters appear above each reel. The number of Wild symbols that land on them corresponds to the Dazzling Wilds counter at the top. This starts at two and increases every time wilds on that reel help create a winning combination.

Dazzle Me Megaways – Conclusion

At first glance, Dazzle Me Megaways seems very similar to the original Netent slot game. But there are a few notable differences. The most obvious change is the mechanic and the addition of a sixth reel. The old linked reels feature has also been removed with the Dazzling Wild Reels now taking centre-stage. In spite of these updates (or because of them), Dazzle Me Megaways plays well enough, although it’s the free spins bonus round with its guaranteed wild reel where the big wins are to be had.
