Proper Bet is new for 2026. It’s got its own UK licence and features a sportsbook, casino and live casino.
Proper Bet’s slogan is “Betting. Done properly” and they also describe themselves as being “serious about safe play”. Their head office is in York and their UK licence is brand spanking new, having been granted in May 2026. The sportsbook and casino are on the tried and tested Playbook platform.
The main things to bear in mind when claiming the welcome offer at Proper Bet are:
Proper Bet offers bets on a range of popular sports including UK, Irish and international horse racing, football, darts, golf and MMA, but some of the more niche sports are missing as are esports. Within the sports categories the markets can be a bit restricted; for example, for Formula 1 the only thing you can bet on is the drivers’ championship. In Play has its own lobby area is available on football and other ball sports.
Included in the sports category menu is Proper Boosts. This takes you to the currently available odds boosts which at the time of my visit were on Champions League football and selected UK and Irish horse racing.
There’s also a Virtuals lobby area with a massive choice of virtual football matches to bet on, plus virtual horse racing, greyhounds, golf and motorsport – great for entertainment during the off season.
Proper Bet launched with games from just two providers, Pragmatic Play and LEAP. It’s very common for Playbook sites to open with a restricted range of providers and add more later so this may not be the case for long. Don’t expect them to add any progressive jackpots though – no Playbook sites have them.
In the meantime, if you enjoy Big Bass, Gates of Olympus, The Dog House, Joker’s Jewels or any of Pragmatic Play’s other popular families of slot games, you’ll be right at home here.
The lobby has lots of tabs to help you find games (not that necessary at the moment but it will be helpful when more games are added) and if you’d like a change from slots the Table Games and Arcade & Crash Games sections have half a dozen games each, the latter also including Plinko.
You can also find games by using the search box. It’s lightning quick and shows near misses as well as exact matches; when I searched for “gates” the 6 Gates of Olympus were at the top together with Gates of Hades, while games such as Pirates Pub and Dragons Gate Bonus Choice were shown lower down in the results.
Each game tile has a heart icon so you can add it to your favourites. There’s also an information icon but the panel that pops up when you touch this is not actually very informative – it has a very brief blurb about the game, the minimum and maximum stakes and (for logged in players only) a link to a free demo version of the game if there is one. There’s nothing about game bonus features, volatility or Return To Player so you would need to check games individually before playing to find out more – with the exception of the RTP of the welcome offer game Big Bass Vegas 1000, which they helpfully mention in the terms and conditions as being 92%.
Live Casino has its own top level lobby area. At the moment all of the games are by Pragmatic Play, with subsections for gameshows, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, crash games and Asian games. The gameshows category is particularly attractive with Dice City, The Bingo Spot and several spin the wheel games including Sweet Bonanza Candyland.
Proper Bet does not have a promotions page as such; offers are shown in a carousel at the top of the page. When I visited there was a weekly sports promotion offering a free bet based on acca betting the previous week, and several casino promotions including various stake and get spins offers as well as Pragmatic Play’s Drops & Wins.
There’s not much choice of deposit methods at this site, with no e-wallets or prepaid voucher systems supported. Debit card and bank transfer are really the only options.
Support is done via a chat bubble which is only visible when logged in. If you aren’t logged in, need help and the answer isn’t in the surprisingly detailed FAQ, you can use the “Give Us Feedback” link to send them an email.
Proper Bet looks like a great place to play and bet on sports as long as you want to stick to the most popular games and markets. Both the sportbook and games library are lacking in depth so may not be suitable for fans of niche sports and/or less well known game providers. If you don’t mind that, and don’t mind needing to use your bank account to deposit, it could be just the thing.

The Safer Gambling policy statement begins with advice about how to maintain control and continues with a comprehensive self assessment questionnaire. It then goes on to detail the safer gambling tools that are available and the consequences of using them. As well as the usual reality check, deposit limits, play break and self exclusion, they offer Product Block which means you can exclude yourself from product groups (e.g. live casino) or from individual sports or betting markets while retaining access to the rest of the site.
The document wraps up with details of where to get help and/or take practical steps like limiting gambling ads or getting your bank to block gambling transactions.
