Betfred has slots, Playtech bingo, a sportsbook and a host of other products all served up by a household name.
Betfred is the online arm of an extremely well known chain of UK betting shops that dates back to 1967. With offices in Warrington and Salford, more than 1500 shops all over the UK and a long history of sports sponsorship including football, horse racing, darts and more, they are truly a household name.
Betfred offers one of the widest selections of products under the same roof that you’ll find at any UK gambling site. As well as a sportsbook, there’s virtual sports, Totepool, bingo, poker, live casino, lotto and three different areas for slot games – Casino for Playtech slots, Vegas for classic slots and Games for everything else.
Why Betfred? It’s a play on the name of one of the founders, Fred Done.
Your first impressions of Betfred as you arrive on site may not be great. Although the entire Betfred site has had a badly needed redesign for 2024, the bingo room and slot game tiles are still rather drab and the whole site is a bit uninspiring to look at.
Also, the player registration procedure is on the long side. There are FIVE screens of information to put in and if you intend to claim a welcome offer that requires a code, you will need to make a note of it BEFORE you start the process as it has to be entered towards the end and isn’t visible anywhere at that stage.
Don’t be put off by all this because once you get in, you’ll find a great selection of games and some very player friendly promotions (not to mention transparency over slot game Return To Player, as we shall see).
According to our resident sports betting expert Darren:
There are some long standing offers at the Betfred sportsbook including:
Some good features include:
Not so good:
The Bingo part of the Betfred site is a great little Playtech bingo site, with just the right number of bingo rooms – enough to give players plenty of choice of different bingo games, ticket prices and prize money, but not so many as to be bewildering! Here’s some of what’s available:
Betfred have their own pleasant and helpful chat hosts.
There’s a selection of Eyecon and Virtue Fusion slot games inside the bingo rooms and bingo lobby (including many progressive jackpots) and these are also accessible from the Slots area in the bingo part of the main Betfred site.
Betfred run regular weekly promotions on both bingo and on the slot games in the bingo part of the site and they also run prize draws from time to time. The My Promos button in the bingo lobby shows you which promotions you can take part in and whether you need to enter a code to opt in.
Slot games at Betfred can be found in FOUR different areas of the site.
This slightly old fashioned separation keeps the Playtech casino distinct from everything else, but all of these games can be played with the same wallet and login.
That’s not the only old fashioned looking thing about Betfred – despite the recent design upgrade the layout of the site is still a bit cluttered looking and the games are all on small tiles with the name of the game on a blue background, meaning that the game titles are sometimes difficult to read. Even on a desktop computer, it’s necessary to scroll sideways to see all of them. Oddly, the whole arrangement actually works better on mobile, perhaps because there’s fewer tiles on screen at once and that’s less overwhelming. You can view the games in groups (in the Games area these include Megaways, TV and Film, Jackpots, and so on) or check out the entire list in alphabetical order.
The games themselves include titles from almost all popular providers – after the addition of PlayNGo slots in autumn 2025 Novomatic and Relax Gaming are the only notable omissions. Progressive jackpots are particularly well served, with more than 80 daily jackpot games plus Jackpot King, Mega Moolah and IGT Megajackpots in the Games area and Age of the Gods, Sporting Legends, Power Play Jackpots, Jackpot Blitz, Kingdoms Rise and Jackpot Giant in the Casino area. As well as displaying the current jackpot size on the game tiles, the Betfred site has a Jackpot Tracker which shows and ranks all the jackpot sizes across the different parts of the site.
There’s also a few non live dealer table games and around 40 Lucky Tap instant win games in a dedicated lobby area.
Scratchcards can be found in the Lotto part of the Betfred site, along with around a dozen draws to bet on including the 49s and some Betfred exclusives. The Betfred Lotto welcome offer can be found on our lottery betting page.
The Live Casino at Betfred is supplied by Playtech. It includes the Betfred Lounge which has exclusive roulette and blackjack tables, Live From Vegas which has roulette and baccarat from the Bellagio and MGM Grand and a selection of game shows.
Betfred has mobile apps for casino and sports only. It’s easy enough to play at other areas of the site on mobile devices via a browser.
Promotions at Betfred are largely based around free bets and free spins, either with winnings paid in cash or with a single playthrough requirement on any bonuses. For example, there’s a regular promotion that awards free spins each week based on your previous week’s play. Betfred also runs occasional prize draws and participates in the Pragmatic Play Drops & Wins network promotion so there’s always plenty to do. One of their slot bonus offers does have a 10x wagering requirement but as it requires opt-in it’s easy to pass on it if you don’t want to be bothered with any wagering requirements.
Fairness and transparency is a huge deal at Betfred. Each area of the site has a Return To Player document showing the RTP for all slot, casino and instant win games; you can find these documents via the Game Fairness and Rules & Limits links in the Betfred website footer. In the case of games with a variable RTP, Betfred have invariably selected one that’s at or near the top of the range (e.g. 96.09% on Starburst).
The Return To Player documents go into detail; jackpot contributions are explained and in the case of live casino games it breaks the RTP down for each bet type; for example in the case of Live Spin A Win the RTP for each of the six different number bets and the three side bets is shown separately. This is really helpful for players – who knew that number bet 10 has an RTP that is a whole 5 percentage points better than number bet 5?!!
Despite its slightly old fashioned look, Betfred remains popular with players, especially since switching to No Wagering welcome offers back in 2020 and sticking with them ever since. With its emphasis on fairness and transparency and its host of different products all playable with the same wallet, it’s a winner!

The Betfred Safer Gambling policy is based round the “Take Time To Think” and “Positive Play” initiatives and is prominently linked from the site menu instead of being relegated to the footer. It includes video messaging, a deep dive into the “Four Pillars Of Positive Play” and links to all their safer gambling tools and to player account history. There’s advice and links for friends and family of gamblers as well as for gamblers themselves.
The tools are just the usual deposit limits, reality checks, time-out and self-exclusion though, with no extras.
