Cursed Seas - Slot of the Month
-
Updated: 12th May 2023
Cursed Seas is our April slot of the month. This highly volatile slot includes an absolutely stunning theme, a reel multiplier system and a hold and win feature with a trio of multiplier symbols. The game pays up to 12,500x your stake.
Theme/Visuals
You’ll be hard pushed to find any slot that can boast a theme as accomplished as this one.
The reels are set against a sort of framed parchment which is backed by a beautifully drawn depiction of a pirate ship navigating stormy seas that’s reminiscent of an old painting.
The reel symbols are also very well drawn although the reel animations are sadly kept to a minimum.
A passable, lute-driven score accompanies play which is punctuated with ringing bells and a sound not too dissimilar to somebody passing wind underwater – this represents the cursed chest feature (see below).
How to Play Cursed Seas
Populating the reels are anchors, compasses, flags, guns and a skull and crossbones. These are the low to medium value symbols.
The medium to high value symbols are represented by four pirate characters which are worth from 3 to 10x your stake when five land across a pay-line.
Two versions of a treasure chest represent the game’s wild (standard, cursed), both of which pay out 50x your total stake when they land in five symbol combinations.
Sunken Treasure Bonus Game
To access this, you’ll need to land three lantern scatters. 10 free spins will then be awarded. During the round (as in the bonus game) any cursed wild that appears opens to reveal multipliers of x2 to x200 which then get added to the reel multiplier.
It also creates a cursed area that stays in place until the bonus round finished. Any winning combos that pass across the cursed area are multiplied.
Manage to land scatters during the free spins round and you’ll receive two, four and six extra spins for two, three and four scatters.
Dead Men Tell No Tales Bonus Game
Four lantern scatters are required to trigger this bonus game. You then start with three spins, while the reels are only populated with cursed and tormented skulls, the kraken or blanks in what amounts to a hold and win feature.
The cursed skulls can add up to +500 to the reel multiplier, while the tormented skull ads a multiplier of up to x25. The kraken comes with values from +1 to +500 which are added to each reel. Your spins are reset every time a special symbol appears. Once you run out of free spins, the features ends.
Conclusion
Happily, this game isn’t all about the bonus games. The base game is spiced up by the inclusion of the cursed multipliers which can generate some decent wins. The symbols are quite valuable too all things considered, especially if you factor in the potential multiplier values.
Although the Sunken treasure round is a glorified version of the base game, it’s an entertaining distraction. But it’s the hold and win round where the big wins are to be had (potentially). All you’ve got to do is trigger it the round. Good luck with that!
