Two New Twists On 90 Ball Bingo
-
Updated: 2nd Aug 2024
90 ball bingo is without a doubt the most popular form of bingo of them all – in the UK anyway – so it’s always nice when a new bingo game comes out that adds a little something extra to this beloved game. For Summer 2020, we have not one, but two new games adding a new twist to 90 ball bingo. Both are networked and widely available at UK bingo sites.
In the blue corner we have Pragmatic Play with their new speed bingo game, Bingo Blast. In the red corner we have Dragonfish with their “equal chances” bingo game Even Stevens.
What Is Bingo Blast?
Bingo Blast was launched at the end of April and is available to play everywhere with the Pragmatic Play bingo product, including all Jumpman and Nektan bingo sites. The game is essentially 90 ball bingo with a Full House prize only and the boring bits on fast forward; instead of being called one by one, at the start of the game 20+ balls are released at once in a “blast”. There’s a brief interlude so players can see the state of their cards, then a second blast takes place; after that, the balls are called one by one until someone wins (if indeed they haven’t already).
Bingo Blast was designed with mobile phone play in mind, as the ultimate snackable bingo content, and is currently available 5pm – 10pm. Tickets are priced at 2p or 5p.
What Is Even Stevens?
Even Stevens is a new 90 ball bingo room on the Dragonfish network (find it in the Specials tab) which is currently available 4pm – 11pm. The USP of Even Stevens is that the minimum ticket purchase is also the maximum ticket purchase – 24 tickets – giving everyone who buys tickets an equal chance of winning. Unlike that gold standard of equal chance bingo games, BOB by Mecca Bingo, Even Stevens has no limit to the number of players allowed in the room (not that this is an issue at the moment!).
Our Verdict
Unfortunately both these bingo rooms have the same problem at the moment – not enough players – to the extent that some of the games end up being cancelled.
Bingo Blast suffers because although the Pragmatic Play bingo software is a great product and Bingo Blast itself is a fun game, it’s running at sites where the main focus is on slots and most of the interest on the bingo side is in the periodic jackpot games.
Even Stevens is struggling to attract players because the minimum ticket purchase, at 24, is quite high and this is probably putting people off joining; at £1.20 per game you could steam through your deposit and welcome bonus very quickly. [UPDATE – the ticket price is going to be reduced to 2p from June 21st which should result in more players joining).
If you do manage to buy into a game of either that actually runs, of course, you’ll have a better than usual chance of winning due to there being so few other players.
