Dove Bingo is a Jumpman brand that, like many of its sister sites, has evolved beyond its bingo origins into an all-round gaming platform with over 2,000 slot titles, alongside casino and live casino sections.
Established in 2015, Dove Bingo dates from that period between Jumpman’s 2012 move into casino gaming and the 2017 migration of bingo sites to the Mega Wheel bonus, of which Dove Bingo was one of the first. Sadly, that meant the end of the site’s welcome promotion that featured a cartoon dove pulling worms out of the ground; a loss of individuality that has been a downside for all of the sites that migrated.
Like the rest of the Jumpman stable, Dove Bingo operates on a UKGC licence in the UK and through the Alderney Gambling Control Commission for overseas players. Its SSL protocol has been verified by GoDaddy, and the home page includes a link to Jumpmancares.co.uk, the operator’s responsible gambling site, and to partners GamStop and Be Gamble Aware.org.
The design is cheery, but sparse, featuring blue skies, green fields and a pink banner as backdrop to a handful of site categories. It’s pleasant enough, but as with most other Jumpman brands it’s a little half-hearted.
There are three pages to the Dove Bingo sign-up process and the whole thing takes around a minute. If you want faster registration, you can sign-up with PayPal, but you will need to make a deposit when you use this option, and you won’t be able to claim the Welcome Bonus. Players who sign up the standard way don’t have to make an immediate deposit, and identity verification is not required until you make your first withdrawal.
The game lobby is as sparse as the site design. There are five basic categories: slots, casino, live, jackpots and bingo. You can’t search by provider, sub-genre, RTP or any other criteria, only by game title, so there’s no quick way to find the site’s Slingo, scratchcard, keno or Sic Bo options unless you know the specific game name.
Since Jumpman moved their bingo platform onto the Pragmatic Play system, prizes have been bigger and more consistent, but that has come at a loss of priority, and at Dove Bingo, as with many of its sister sites, bingo has been pushed into the background by the focus on slots.
When you click on the bingo option, you’ll find a small collection of moderately busy rooms, which is usually in the 9-12 range. Styles of play go from 30 ball bingo up to 90 and there are some big five-figure jackpots to be found in the Jackpot, Heavyweight and Super Heavyweight rooms, while Country Road, Boombox and Bingo Blast are all popular. There’s also a diverting selection of eight mini games in the bingo rooms including Sweet Bonanza and Wolf Gold.
If you’re looking for penny tickets, you will find a few 1p and 2p games in Boombox and Zoom, but you won’t find any free games and most disappointing of all, there is no chat facility, which has been completely disabled. That’s a big deal for bingo fans, and a major negative.
The scarcity of information and category headings in the Dove Bingo slot section mean that it’s hard to be sure exactly how many slots games are on the site. The All Games section states 3795 games in total, so a bit of quick maths suggests anything up to 2700 of those are slot titles.
Slots fans can chose between Slots and Jackpot games. The latter category features 64 games, including Fluffy and its sequels, though there’s none of the globally popular progressives like Mega Moolah and Mega Fortune here.
Choose the Slots option and there are a few sub-categories, including Megaways, Cult Classics, Fishing, Mystery and Egyptian. Beyond that, however, there are no further search options, and none of the game icons feature information about RTP or developer. There is a handy search bar, but that’s of limited use if you just want to browse a style or theme of slot.
That said, this is a solid game library. Most of the big-name developers are represented, including Big Time Gaming, Inspired, Blueprint Gaming, Red Tiger, Microgaming and Eyecon, and that means you’ll be able to play all of the high profile titles like Starburst, Gonzo’s Quest, Eye Of Horus and Book Of Dead. Unlike the jackpot section, the Dove Bingo slots library is comprehensive, and won’t disappoint many players.
Casino players can choose from around 50 games, mainly roulette and blackjack, although there are a handful of keno and sic bo titles, and there’s a live casino section, powered by Pragmatic Play, that features 70 games, over half of them in the roulette genre. Dig a little deeper using the search bar and you’ll find 65 Slingo games, and some scratchcards, although the site layout appears to be designed to hide these options.
The Trophies concept is a typical modern gamification feature to be found across Jumpman sites. Checking out the Trophies page you can see hundreds of these, awarded for completing various tasks on the site, and every five Trophies you win gives you another spin on the Mega Wheel. There are regular topical promotions, along with some other bonuses that will be recognizable to players at other Jumpman sites, including Turbo Wheel and the 200 Club.
Like most of its sister sites, Dove Bingo caters for mobile players through a mobile browser rather than downloadable apps, and we found there was little problem with accessing any of the games or with loading times whether using iOS or Android, on which the site runs smoothly.
The same can’t be said for the customer service at Dove Bingo. There are two ways to access customer support. The first is through the small yellow Support button at the bottom right of the home page, the other is by clicking through the small Help link at the foot of the page.
In both cases, you’ll be able to access a webform, which is misleadingly described as a live chat option, and replies can take up to two days. The Help section mentions an email contact, but this is not immediately obvious, then there’s a fairly basic FAQ section and that’s about it. There’s no genuine live chat, no 24/7 support and phone option.
As a slots gaming site, Dove Bingo is relatively effective. It certainly provides a good selection of slots from the top providers and most slots players will probably be satisfied. Unfortunately, bingo fans have less to enjoy. While the site has retained a bingo section, the lack of bingo promotions and the absence of any community element means that this is a distinctly sub-par bingo platform which can’t match the experience of a dedicated bingo site. On the other hand, if you are looking for an all-round modern iGaming site, there’s probably enough here to keep you interested, from the game selection to the gamification features.
Same as at all other Jumpman sites. Advice, links, deposit limits, reality check, time out and self exclusion (if you choose self exclusion it applies to all Jumpman sites not just Dove Bingo)
