Plaza Royal Casino was launched in late 2020. It bills itself as “the UK’s Virtual Vegas” and takes its name from a Vegas landmark.

Plaza Royal has a slightly different layout to other Aspire casinos, with the menu on the left hand side instead of at the top, but this is only really evident on desktop. In fact, this is a casino lobby that looks and works much better on mobile; on desktop, the last column of slot tiles on the right is half off the screen whereas on mobile there’s a nice tidy two column layout. What is more annoying is that some of the pages take a while to load (only an issue when you’re trying to navigate the lobby, not when actually playing) and occasionally a page that belongs to a non UK version of the casino loads briefly before being replaced by the correct page (potentially causing confusion about what the welcome offer actually is).

The games themselves are typical of Aspire casinos – light on progressive jackpots, heavy on PlayNGo slots and otherwise a big selection from lots of different providers. Amongst them are some that you’ll only find at Aspire casinos, including a selection of scratchcards and the exclusive progressive jackpot Redeem the Dream.

The Live Casino area is very well appointed with numerous blackjack tables, plenty of roulette and baccarat and several game shows including Mega Ball, Dream Catcher and Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt.

One thing to be aware of at Plaza Royal is that there is an extremely long list of games (getting on for 500 of them!) that only contribute at 50% to the wagering requirement. For example, if you like NetEnt slots and want to avoid the lower contribution ones you’ll be confined to just 6 games (including Starburst but not Gonzo’s Quest). So what seems a reasonable wagering requirement of 35x bonus can easily become an effective 70x if you aren’t paying attention!

Having said that, the selection of games is so large that it shouldn’t be too difficult to find a 100% contribution game you want to play when you’ve got a bonus to use.

Promotions at Plaza Royal are run by the Aspire network and when we visited, a couple of slot provider run tournaments were being given prominence and there weren’t any deposit based offers apart from the welcome offer.

All in all, Plaza Royal is not the best looking or easiest to use of Aspire sites, but has a perfectly decent welcome offer and a good choice of games.
