Megaways Slots

Best new bingo sites selection - Megaways Slots

A collection of slot games with Megaways, the amazing new slot game mechanic invented by Big Time Gaming.  Variable numbers of symbols on each reel produce as many as hundreds of thousands of ways to win.

  • Play Sweet Success Megaways at 7Casino
Win Up To 500 Free Spins On Your 1st Deposit (UK Only) - Twin Spin

Sweet Success Megaways is yet another Megaways game by Blueprint, that is essentially Deal Or No Deal Megaways without the branding..  It has the horizontal conveyor covering reels 2-5 and cascading wins mechanic that is common to a great many Megaways slots.

The Pick’n’Mix bonus has three levels and is triggered after 4, 5 or 6 consecutive cascades.  It is a pick-me which can award cash prizes or free spins.  The free spins take place with added mystery symbols and with a multiplier that increases with each win (again, these are familiar features that appear in other Megaways slots).  What makes Sweet Success Megaways different to most other Megaways slots is the nature of the pick-me itself – it’s a Deal Or No Deal style bonus game where you either collect what’s inside your own sweet ONLY at the end of the round, or accept a cash offer after a round of picks (which sometimes comes with 5 free spins).  To be sure of winning free spins and not a (usually disappointing) cash prize you’ll need 6 cascades to get the version of Pick’n’Mix where all possible awards are free spins.  No prizes for guessing how rare that is!

Sweet Success Megaways has RTP of 96.06% and can be played from 10p a spin.

  • Play 88 Fortunes Megaways at CasinoCasino
    Deposit £10 - £100, Get 100% Slot Bonus

88 Fortunes Megaways by Scientific Games is a Megaways reboot of the original slot game from 2016, itself based on a physical slot machine.  It has up to 117,649 ways to win depending on how many symbols land on each of the 6 reels, and the extra horizontal reel adjacent to reels 2-5 and exploding wins feature that are common to a great many Megaways slots.

The special feature of 88 Fortunes Megaways is the option to play with anything from 1 to 5 gold symbols; turning a symbol gold makes wins worth 20x more or thereabouts, but changes the base stake; the cheapest spin is 8p with one gold symbol and 88p with all 5.  RTP varies from 96.06% to 96.36%.

88 Fortunes Megaways also has a free spins bonus round which can be triggered either by scatters or via a pick-me feature (randomly awarded by the Fu Bat wild symbol) which also awards a starting multiplier.

  • Play Rainbow Riches Megaways at Cash Arcade
Deposit £10+ To Open Your Loot Chest - Top Prize 500 Slot Spins

Rainbow Riches Megaways sees the Megaways treatment given to arguably the most popular slot of all time (as far as UK players players are concerned, anyway).  The base game is very similar to other Megaways gems such as Bonanza – it has the familar horizontal reel at the top and cascading wins. The Super Gem symbol, which transforms all gems on the reels into the same gem, is also nothing new.  The bonus round is also typical of Megaways slots rather than of other Rainbow Riches games – it is free spins with an increasing multiplier.

Where it gets interesting is in theways in which the bonus round can be triggered apart from by the usual 4 bonus symbols.  The Buy Pass triggers it instantly for 100x stake and if bought, the bonus round can be gambled using the Take A Chance feature, which awards a better bonus round or nothing.  Players can also save up for the bonus round by using the Bank feature which allows some or all winnings to be held to reduce the price of the Buy Pass (if you leave the game without buying it the winnings return to your wallet)

Rainbow Riches Megaways has RTP of 96% and this goes up to 96.661% – 96.863% if the Buy Pass is used.  The “Take A Chance” gamble does not have a house edge.  The game can be played from 20p a spin.

    * New players only, min deposit £10, £8 max win per 10 spins, max bonus conversion £250, 65x wagering requirements and full T&Cs apply

  • Play Kingmaker Megaways at Slotnite
Deposit £10+, Get 100% Slot Bonus Up To £250 + 100 Bonus Spins

Kingmaker Megaways, the latest release from Big Time Gaming, adds an entirely new twist to the Megaways mechanic which turns the idea of skipping straight to the bonus round on its head.  In this game, the longer you wait for the bonus round the better it gets, and the better the base game gets!

Kingmaker Megaways doesn’t have the cascading wins or horizontal reel features found in other Megaways slots such as Bonanza, and it only has 5 reels with 2 – 7 symbols on each, giving a maximum of 16,807 Megaways (all of which are active in every spin during the bonus round).  The main aim in the base game is to score 5 of a kind wins on the four high paying gem symbols; when you do, the Gem Multiplier for that gem is increased by one, applying to all future wins on that gem until the bonus round is triggered.  The bonus round starting multiplier is determined by adding the current Gem Mulitpliers together so is always at least 4, but can be much more. Although the multiplier can increase during the bonus round, it only does so on a 5 of a kind gem win, so the starting multiplier is much more important than in other Megaways slots.

All in all, a very interesting innovation!  Kingmaker Megaways can be played from 20p a spin and has RTP of 96.65%.

  • Play Return of Kong Megaways at Gala Casino
    Deposit & Play £20, Get £40 Slot Bonus & 20 Bonus Spins

Return of Kong Megaways by Blueprint Gaming has the classic Megaways features of cascading wins and a horizontal belt above reels 2-5 of its 6 reel array.  What makes it more than just another Megaways slot is firstly its reuse of the much loved video game inspired lead character from King Kong Cash and secondly the choice of ways to progress directly to the bonus round if you don’t want to wait  – if the operator has enabled the Bonus Bet button (not all of them have).

100x stake buys the regular bonus round of 12 free spins with an increasing multiplier.  Collecting Golden Monkeys during the bonus round awards extra spins and upgrades the minimum number of Megaways per spin.

150x stake buys a spin of the mystery bonus wheel which offers the opportunity to short circuit the process of collecting Golden Monkeys.  It awards a random number of free spins with a random Golden Monkey upgrade level (so starting with a higher minimum number of Megaways).

Return of Kong Megaways can be played from 10p a spin and has RTP of 96.13%

  • Play Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways at Gala Spins
Jackpot King Slots: Deposit & Play £10+, Get £40 Bonus

Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways is a pumped up revamp of the classic Blueprint slot from 2014.  The original had just 10 paylines but in the Megaways version, the 6 reels give up to 15,625 ways to win (depending, as always with Megaways, on the number of symbols that land on each reel which varies from spin to spin).  It’s one of the more straightforward Megaways slots out there, without the horizontal reel and exploding symbols of the quintessential Megaways game Bonanza.

Just as in the original, the fisherman scatter is the key symbol, both for triggering the free spins bonus round and getting big wins once in there; the fish symbols come with price tags representing what you can win in the bonus round if you spin them at the same time as a fisherman.  The game does a great job of combining the look and feel of the original with the thrill of the Megaways mechanic, and in common with many other Megaways slots it has a Buy The Bonus feature whereby a player can pay 100x stake to trigger the bonus round immediately.

Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways has RTP of 95.02%

    * 18+. New customers only. Certain countries only. Min deposit and spend £10 cash on any Jackpot King game = £40 bonus. x20 wagering reqs apply. Bonus valid for 7 days. Selected games only. T&Cs apply.

  • Play Medusa Megaways at Red Spins
Deposit £10+, Get 100% Slots Bonus up to £200

Medusa Megaways is a Megaways reboot of the classic NextGen slot games Medusa and Medusa II.  It has the same reels arrangement (and cascading wins) as Bonanza and Extra Chilli – 6 Megaways reels and a horizontal reel at the top of reels 2-5.  Excitement is provided in the base game by the Medusa’s Gaze feature which can activate when a Medusa Wild appears on the horizontal reel; the wild spreads downward to cover the reel below.

Medusa Megaways has a free spins bonus round with a multiplier that increases with every win cascade and an additional feature, Snake Strike, which can create extra wilds (to trigger Medusa’s Gaze) and/or extra scatters (which add 5 more free spins each) on the extra reel.

At the end of the bonus round, the unique Temptation feature kicks in.  Didn’t like the result of the bonus round?  You can throw it away and play it again – but choose wisely because Temptation is only offered once and you’ll be stuck with the result.

Medusa Megaways can be played from 25p a spin and has RTP of 96.28% – which is increased to 97.63% if you use the “buy the bonus round” feature (for 100x stake).

  • Play Valletta Megaways at Gala Spins
Jackpot King Slots: Deposit & Play £10+, Get £40 Bonus

Valletta Megaways is another in the series of Megaways games by Blueprint.  It has 6 reels each of which displays up to 5 symbols giving up to 15625 ways to win.  The city of Valletta is the capital of Malta which is a major base for the iGaming industry but the theming harks back to the island’s epic past.

Valletta Megaways is a Buy The Bonus Round slot.  The Valletta Bet can be bought for 100x stake.  This awards a spin that is guaranteed to produce at least 3 scatters for 10 free spins (but may produce more scatters for higher numbers of free spins).  During the bonus round, the Valletta Streak feature is active.  This is basically sticky wins – on any winning spin, the winning symbols stay in place for a respin and respins continue until no new winning symbols appear.  If all the symbols on the reels become sticky, more free spins are awarded.

The Valletta Streak feature can also be randomly triggered during the base game and other features randomly add extra scatters of wild to the reels to keep things interesting.

Valletta Megaways has RTP of 96.45% – or 97% if you do nothing but buy the bonus round (as we suspect many will).

    * 18+. New customers only. Certain countries only. Min deposit and spend £10 cash on any Jackpot King game = £40 bonus. x20 wagering reqs apply. Bonus valid for 7 days. Selected games only. T&Cs apply.

  • Play Golden Leprechaun Megaways at Mecca Bingo
Deposit & Spend £10, Get 300% Bingo Bonus, 200% Slot Bonus (for Reel King Mega) & £10 Mecca Club Vouchers

Golden Leprechaun Megaways by Red Tiger has the ever popular theme of Irish luck.  The base game is classic Megaways with up to ways to win and exploding wins, but there’s a lot more to the game than that.  The Lucky Leprechaun can appear at any time offering a pick of three different mushrooms each of which lead to a different bonus feature – Lucky Ways which swaps symbols to guarantee a win, Random Wilds which adds up to 5 extra wilds and Wild Stacks which turns up to 4 reels wild with a multiplier based on the size of the reel.

There’s also a free spins bonus round with an increasing multiplier; at the start of the bonus round the pick-me runs to determine which of the three features will be active throughout.

Golden Leprechaun Megaways can be played from 10p a spin and has RTP of 94.72%.

  • Play Mystery Reels Megaways at Mecca Bingo
Deposit & Spend £10, Get 300% Bingo Bonus, 200% Slot Bonus (for Reel King Mega) & £10 Mecca Club Vouchers

Mystery Reels Megaways is a slot game from Red Tiger, the latest provider to start using the Megaways mechanic under licence from Big Time Gaming.  It has 6 reels each of which can hold up to 7 symbols, giving a maximum potential of 117,649 ways to win, and RTP of 96.18%.

The theming is simple – a classic fruit machine – and the game does not contain the extra horizontal reel seen in Megaways titles such as Bonanza.  The base game does have one bonus feature, the Mystery symbol.  This clones itself a random number of times across the reels then all transform into the same symbol.

The bonus round in Mystery Reels Megaways cannot be bought – it is triggered by 3 or more free spins symbols and this typically takes hundreds or even thousands of spins.  Once the bonus round has been triggered, the player can choose to gamble it in the hope of getting a better bonus round.  It’s not an all or nothing gamble – the bonus round is 8 free spins and the worst that can happen is that it gets reduced to 4 free spins, whereas a winning gamble boosts it to 12 or 20 free spins.  In the bonus round, each winning spin or cascade increments the multiplier by 1, so more is very much better.

    * New cutomer must deposit and spend £10 on bingo within 60 days. £30 bingo bonus (1x wagering) £20 slot bonus on Reel King Mega (4x wagering) and £10 of club vouchers. T&C apply.

Megaways Slots

The Megaways slot game mechanic was invented by Big Time Gaming and the first slot to use it was the perennially popular Bonanza.  It is basically a rather distinctive mutant version of that old chestnut, the 243 way slot.

243 way slots have no paylines as such; winning combos consist of the same symbol repeated on each reel, starting from the left, regardless of where on the reel the symbol appears.  243 is 3 to the 5th power and this represents the number of possible different combinations of 5 of a kind on a 3 x 5 array.   Of course, there are fewer ways to score 3 of a kind (27) and 4 of a kind (81).

Megaways slots have a variable number of symbols visible on each reel each spin, and not the same on every reel either.  The 6 reels in Bonanza, for example, can contain up to 7 symbols and if they all do, there’s a staggering 117,649 ways to win.  When the reels contain less than 7 symbols (and in Bonanza reels 1 and 6 can contain as few as 2 symbols and 2-5 as few as 3) there are fewer ways to win; the game keeps track of this and displays the current number of ways to win on each spin.  Although the symbols are bigger when there are fewer of them each symbol only counts once which can be confusing if you’ve played other games where double height symbols count twice.  Most Megaways games have cascading wins (aka Avalanche) and when there is a cascade, the number of symbols on the reels doesn’t change.

Bonanza and some other Megaways games have a conveyor belt at the top of the array which is part of the Megaways system for the purposes of scoring but behaves differently when it spins (it moves sideways and is the only place wilds can appear).  Although this is heavily associated with Megaways games it is not an essential part of the Megaways mechanic – Megaways is all about the variable number of symbols per reel.

Megaways games also very often have a larger array with more ways to win in the bonus round and another common feature is a bonus round that can be bought and/or gambled, but again these are not essential features and what makes a game Megaways is the fluctuating number of symbols per reel.

Big Time Gaming own the rights to Megaways and have licensed it out to a number of other games providers, most notably Blueprint Gaming whose Diamond Mine game is very similar to Bonanza.  Blueprint have released what seems like dozens of Megaways games and other providers  – Red Tiger for example – are now starting to get in on the act.  The Megaways craze shows no signs of going out of fashion and we expect to see many more Megaways games come out in 2020.
