  • Play Genie Jackpots Megaways at Gala Bingo
Deposit & Spend £5, Get £10 Bingo Bonus & 20 Wager Free Spins on Bowling Frenzy

Genie Jackpots Megaways is a sequel to the very popular Genie Jackpots slot by Blueprint, but unlike the original it is not part of the Jackpot King progressive jackpot suite.  Instead, it uses the Megaways game mechanic under license from Big Time Gaming. In Megaways, the symbols vary in height so the number of possible winning combinations across the 6 reels changes with each spin depending on the number of symbols that land on each reel.  In Genie Jackpots Megaways, 2 to 5 symbols can land on a reel – giving 15,625 ways to win if all 6 reels have 5 symbols each. Symbols score the same and count as one symbol only regardless of height.

Genie Jackpots Megaways has the wealth of bonus features you’d expect from a Blueprint slot game.  There are four bonus features (similar to the bonus features in that Blueprint classic Ted) which can be triggered by any spin plus four different bonus rounds (one of which is selected via the Cave of Wonders pick-me when free spins are triggered by the appearance of 3 or more scatters).  Can’t be bothered to wait for the bonus round?  Depending on where you play Genie Jackpots Megaways you may be able to use the Genie Bonus Wish feature (another Big Time Gaming invention) to trigger the bonus round immediately for 100x stake (some operators do not have this feature enabled).

  • Play Who Wants To Be A Millionaire at Spin Rider
100% Slot Bonus (up to £300) & 50 Bonus Spins

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is the latest release from Big Time Gaming, the creators of Bonanza and of the Megaways system.  Big Time Gaming are known for the extreme high volatility of their slot games and thrilling bonus rounds – and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has by far the most insane and ridiculous bonus round yet seen.  The base game plays very much like Big Time Gaming’s earlier release Extra Chilli, and the bonus round builds on a concept first seen in Extra Chilli – the ability to gamble the bonus round in the hope of getting a better one.  In Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, the entire point is to gamble the bonus round and just as in the TV show, the player has to choose correctly from four options at each step to increase the number of free spins.   Win at every step and the 8 spins initially awarded can go all the way up to 50 spins.  As in the TV show, there are three lifelines and there’s also safety nets at 10 spins and 20 spins ensuring that once you get past the risky first step you can’t lose the entire bonus round.  As the free spins are played with a multiplier that increases with every win, every extra spin won can make a huge difference to potential winnings.

  • Play Machina at Videoslots
Deposit £10 or more, Get 100% bonus up to £200 & extra £10 cash & 11 Wager Free Spins

Machina by Kalamba Gaming is themed on a futuristic city and like many other recent releases it uses the Megaways system under licence from Big Time Gaming.   It has three jackpots (the value of which is personal to each player and climbs from the seed value as a result of play) and a Hyper Bonus feature allowing instant progress of the free spins bonus round, with 4 purchase options for different numbers of free spins.  During the free spins, the special Bonus Accumulation symbol can be collected to award extra free spins and transform the four characters, one at a time, into the the highest paying Machina symbol.   Spin 10+ of these on one spin to collect the smallest of the three jackpots (12+ or 16+for the bigger ones).  Jackpot drops can occur on multiple spins during a bonus round.

Machina is quite expensive to play as the minimum spin value is 60p and the Hyper Bonus purchase options range from £31.25 for 10 free spins (usually awarded by getting three bonus symbols) to a massive £202.25 for 18 free spins (usually awarded by getting 6 bonus symbols).  The RTP is 96.59% for the base game and slightly higher when a bonus round is bought.

  • Play White Rabbit at Pocket Safari
Up To 50 Bonus Spins OR 20% Cashback

White Rabbit by Big Time Gaming was groundbreaking – the first slot game in which players could go directly to the bonus round by paying 100x stake.

White Rabbit is a Megaways slot but without the extra horizontal reel seen in Bonanza, Extra Chilli and many others.  The bonus round is also a bit different to usual; instead of an increasing multiplier, there is a special Cupcake symbol that makes the reel it is on increase in height by one symbol for the rest of the free spins.  When a reel reaches the maximum height of 12 symbols, between 3 and 12 extra free spins are awarded and the reel is enhanced with extra high scoring symbols and wilds.  If all reels reach maximum height there are up to 248,832 ways to win.

The RTP of White Rabbit without buying this potentially very exciting bonus round is 97.24%; buying the bonus round immediately without collecting any BTG coins towards it has a slightly better RTP of 97.77% and as BTG coins are collected, the RTP slowly goes down to 97.24%.  This is a slot where it really is all about buying the bonus round and we suspect a great many players don’t even bother with the base game.

    * New customers only. First deposit only. Min deposit £10, Max 50 Bonus Spins on Selected slots only. 2x conversion, 20x wagering, 20% cashback on losses up to £200 T&C's apply..

  • Play Extra Chilli at Casino Joy
    Deposit £10 - £200, Get 100% Slot Bonus & 200 Starburst Spins

Extra Chilli by Big Time Gaming is a Megaways slot which was the first game in which you could not only buy the bonus round but also gamble it (repeatedly) to get a better bonus round with an extra 4 free spins – extra spicy indeed!  Megaways slots are quite high variance anyway and the ability to buy and gamble the bonus round sends the variance through the roof.

Buying the bonus round in Extra Chilli will cost you 50x stake and if you gamble and lose, you can return to the base game with no free spins at all which is pretty brutal.  In subsequent games with the gamble the bonus round feature, it was refined so that players could make smaller gambles to increment the free spins one at a time and have a better chance of winning.

Play Extra Chilli long enough and you may manage to collect enough BTG coins to get the bonus round at a knockdown price or even free – if you haven’t lost your shirt, your shoes and the horse you rode in on by then.  Handle with extreme care!

  • Play Vikings Unleashed Megaways at Gala Spins
Jackpot King Slots: Deposit & Play £10+, Get £40 Bonus

Vikings Unleashed Megaways is one of several games produced by Blueprint using the Megaways mechanic under licence from Big Time Gaming (who invented it).  The base game plays very like Bonanza and what makes it different to many other Megaways slots is the bonus round – or rather the elaborate mechanisms for setting up the bonus round.  There are FOUR different options for buying the bonus round (priced at 25x, 50x, 75x and 100x spin value) and before the bonus round starts the player can gamble to get a better bonus round – one extra spin and one multiplier step at a time.  Gambling successfully all the way up to the maximum of 27 free spins starting with a 10x multiplier can open the way for a very large win indeed, as every cascade win during the bonus round increases the multiplier by 1, but lose a gamble and you lose the entire bonus round.

Vikings Unleashed Megaways has RTP of 96.5% and can be played from 20p a spin; at that spin value the cheapest buy the bonus round option (5 free spins) is priced at £5.

  • Play Mystery Reels Megaways at Mecca Bingo
Deposit & Spend £10, Get 200% Bingo Bonus, 50 Free Spins (Cleopatra) & £10 Mecca Club Vouchers

Mystery Reels Megaways is a slot game from Red Tiger, the latest provider to start using the Megaways mechanic under licence from Big Time Gaming.  It has 6 reels each of which can hold up to 7 symbols, giving a maximum potential of 117,649 ways to win, and RTP of 96.18%.

The theming is simple – a classic fruit machine – and the game does not contain the extra horizontal reel seen in Megaways titles such as Bonanza.  The base game does have one bonus feature, the Mystery symbol.  This clones itself a random number of times across the reels then all transform into the same symbol.

The bonus round in Mystery Reels Megaways cannot be bought – it is triggered by 3 or more free spins symbols and this typically takes hundreds or even thousands of spins.  Once the bonus round has been triggered, the player can choose to gamble it in the hope of getting a better bonus round.  It’s not an all or nothing gamble – the bonus round is 8 free spins and the worst that can happen is that it gets reduced to 4 free spins, whereas a winning gamble boosts it to 12 or 20 free spins.  In the bonus round, each winning spin or cascade increments the multiplier by 1, so more is very much better.

  • Play Valletta Megaways at Gala Spins
Jackpot King Slots: Deposit & Play £10+, Get £40 Bonus

Valletta Megaways is another in the series of Megaways games by Blueprint.  It has 6 reels each of which displays up to 5 symbols giving up to 15625 ways to win.  The city of Valletta is the capital of Malta which is a major base for the iGaming industry but the theming harks back to the island’s epic past.

Valletta Megaways is a Buy The Bonus Round slot.  The Valletta Bet can be bought for 100x stake.  This awards a spin that is guaranteed to produce at least 3 scatters for 10 free spins (but may produce more scatters for higher numbers of free spins).  During the bonus round, the Valletta Streak feature is active.  This is basically sticky wins – on any winning spin, the winning symbols stay in place for a respin and respins continue until no new winning symbols appear.  If all the symbols on the reels become sticky, more free spins are awarded.

The Valletta Streak feature can also be randomly triggered during the base game and other features randomly add extra scatters of wild to the reels to keep things interesting.

Valletta Megaways has RTP of 96.45% – or 97% if you do nothing but buy the bonus round (as we suspect many will).

  • Play Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways at Gala Spins
Jackpot King Slots: Deposit & Play £10+, Get £40 Bonus

Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways is a pumped up revamp of the classic Blueprint slot from 2014.  The original had just 10 paylines but in the Megaways version, the 6 reels give up to 15,625 ways to win (depending, as always with Megaways, on the number of symbols that land on each reel which varies from spin to spin).  It’s one of the more straightforward Megaways slots out there, without the horizontal reel and exploding symbols of the quintessential Megaways game Bonanza.

Just as in the original, the fisherman scatter is the key symbol, both for triggering the free spins bonus round and getting big wins once in there; the fish symbols come with price tags representing what you can win in the bonus round if you spin them at the same time as a fisherman.  The game does a great job of combining the look and feel of the original with the thrill of the Megaways mechanic, and in common with many other Megaways slots it has a Buy The Bonus feature whereby a player can pay 100x stake to trigger the bonus round immediately.

Fishin’ Frenzy Megaways has RTP of 95.02%

  • Play Medusa Megaways at Red Spins
Deposit £10+, Get 100% Slots Bonus up to £200

Medusa Megaways is a Megaways reboot of the classic NextGen slot games Medusa and Medusa II.  It has the same reels arrangement (and cascading wins) as Bonanza and Extra Chilli – 6 Megaways reels and a horizontal reel at the top of reels 2-5.  Excitement is provided in the base game by the Medusa’s Gaze feature which can activate when a Medusa Wild appears on the horizontal reel; the wild spreads downward to cover the reel below.

Medusa Megaways has a free spins bonus round with a multiplier that increases with every win cascade and an additional feature, Snake Strike, which can create extra wilds (to trigger Medusa’s Gaze) and/or extra scatters (which add 5 more free spins each) on the extra reel.

At the end of the bonus round, the unique Temptation feature kicks in.  Didn’t like the result of the bonus round?  You can throw it away and play it again – but choose wisely because Temptation is only offered once and you’ll be stuck with the result.

Medusa Megaways can be played from 25p a spin and has RTP of 96.28% – which is increased to 97.63% if you use the “buy the bonus round” feature (for 100x stake).

Megaways Slots

The Megaways slot game mechanic was invented by Big Time Gaming and the first slot to use it was the perennially popular Bonanza.  It is basically a rather distinctive mutant version of that old chestnut, the 243 way slot.

243 way slots have no paylines as such; winning combos consist of the same symbol repeated on each reel, starting from the left, regardless of where on the reel the symbol appears.  243 is 3 to the 5th power and this represents the number of possible different combinations of 5 of a kind on a 3 x 5 array.   Of course, there are fewer ways to score 3 of a kind (27) and 4 of a kind (81).

Megaways slots have a variable number of symbols visible on each reel each spin, and not the same on every reel either.  The 6 reels in Bonanza, for example, can contain up to 7 symbols and if they all do, there’s a staggering 117,649 ways to win.  When the reels contain less than 7 symbols (and in Bonanza reels 1 and 6 can contain as few as 2 symbols and 2-5 as few as 3) there are fewer ways to win; the game keeps track of this and displays the current number of ways to win on each spin.  Although the symbols are bigger when there are fewer of them each symbol only counts once which can be confusing if you’ve played other games where double height symbols count twice.  Most Megaways games have cascading wins and when there is a cascade, the number of symbols on the reels stays the same.

Bonanza and some other Megaways games have a conveyor belt at the top of the array which is part of the Megaways system for the purposes of scoring but behaves differently when it spins (it moves sideways and is the only place wilds can appear).  This is not an essential part of the Megaways mechanic – what matters is the variable number of symbols per reel.

Megaways games also very often have a larger array with more ways to win in the bonus round and another common feature is a bonus round that can be bought and/or gambled, but again these are not essential features and what makes a game Megaways is the fluctuating number of symbols per reel.

Big Time Gaming own the rights to Megaways and have licensed it out to a number of other games providers, most notably Blueprint Gaming whose Diamond Mine game is very similar to Bonanza.  Blueprint have released what seems like dozens of Megaways games and other providers  – Red Tiger for example – are now starting to get in on the act.
