Give Back Bingo was a charity bingo site on the Daub Alderney platform (also used by Kitty Bingo and sister sites) which was launched in December 2016 by a Stride Gaming subsidiary and was later brought in house. Rather than being affiliated with or run on behalf of a specific charity, it used the charity of the month format, with a minimum £500 donation specified in the terms and conditions. In August 2020 the site moved to the Dragonfish software and the charity element was completely dropped.
Although this format of charity bingo site has been done several times before, previous iterations of the idea have not worked at all well. At best there have been issues with transparency over amounts and donations (broken links and missing Just Giving pages as well as lack of information) and at worst there has been a question mark over whether any donations have actually been made at all! Give Back Bingo seem to have been doing OK so far although they stopped using Just Giving pages to document their donations after the first few months and report them on their blog instead.
The chosen charities are certainly all worthy causes including smaller charities with little or no fundraising budget of their own. Up until summer 2018 they were mostly medical charities including Great Ormond St Hospital, EhlersDanlos Support UK and the Little Princess Trust and since then they have been supporting a series of animal charities including Brooke, PAWS and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation.
The charity aspect of Give Back Bingo combined with the less well known Daub bingo software makes it a refreshing change from the majority of new bingo site launches.
