Bingo Giving is a Dragonfish powered bingo site (networked with Netboost/Tarco sites such as Gossip Bingo) which describes itself as a charity bingo site and has a rather chequered history, to say the least!
Back in 2013, Gus the Giving Gorilla was claiming to give to charity every time someone won the jackpot and there was a display on the home page showing the charity of the month and how much had been donated so far (never large amounts).
The site changed hands in November 2013 and kept the same design – but visiting the associated Just Giving page in April 2014 revealed that NO charitable donations had been made since the site changed hands (and nor had the charity of the month been changed). From June 2014 onwards they do seem to have started donating and changing the charity regularly again, but the monthly donation is still not much and there is still the question of what has happened regarding the donations for jackpots won between November 2013 and June 2014.
Fast forward to 2015 and the site is fronted by Charlie the Charity Chimp who claims to give to charity with every bingo game; some donations have indeed been made in spring and summer 2015 and these seem to run at about £120 – £130 for each charity. At that time the links were all messed up with the wrong logo being shown for the wrong charity and going to the Just Giving page for another charity again so it was hard to tell what charity was being supported when and for how long. As of Autumn 2015 only one charity was shown on the bingo site, the charity of the current month, and there was no link to JustGiving and no indication of how much money might have been raised or when the charity was last changed.
We visited again in June 2016 and January 2017 and alas, Charlie still isn’t clear about which charity he is supporting or how much money, if any, he is giving. The links are still all messed up with one charity shown as the charity of the month, a £30 donation allegedly having been made to a different charity and the donate link going to yet another charity. Charlie does have some Just Giving pages still on site showing modest donations to a few charities but these do not match up with any of the information on the Bingo Giving site.
We suggest picking a different charity bingo site if you want to support a charity while playing.
