Rewind Bingo
As 2016 starts, we are seeing bingo sites starting to launch using the new evolution of the Virtue Fusion platform, which itself is due to be rebranded as Playtech One Bingo. This unifies mobile, tablet and desktop gaming by running everything in HTML5 and dispensing with the old Flash desktop version. The new Cash Cubes 36 ball bingo variant, which arrived on the Virtue Fusion network in late February, is for HTML5 only.

New Dragonfish powered sites also keep arriving on the scene. The Intertain/Mandalay Media group of sites has a new addition every month or two and the collection of 888 house owned sites continues to grow. An important change took place at Dragonfish during September, affecting the way that the wagering requirements work. Winnings from bonus wagering used to be paid to cash balance and could be withdrawn (causing the loss of any remaining bonus if the requirement had not been met), but now they will be paid to bonus balance and not released to cash until after the requirement has been met. At first this change was confined to sites on the main Dragonfish network but it now seems to be arriving at other 888/Cassava licensed sites.

Cozy introduced a bingo room loosely themed on the Wizard of Oz, running a fun 75 ball bingo variant where the aim is NOT to get a full house. Win by being the last player standing but watch out for the Witch taking your cards away! The room is currently only available as the second level in their continuous free bingo tournament.

The first piece of big news for 2016 was in connection with Sun Bingo. After a number of years on the Gamesys platform this huge site - along with its sister site Fabulous Bingo - migrated to Playtech/Virtue Fusion in August. The standout feature of Sun Bingo has always been its promotions and in particular the splendid prize draws it runs; if that can be carried over to the Virtue Fusion platform they could present some very stiff competition to the likes of bet365 and Gala.

In February news broke of the sale of the Dragonfish network bingo sites owned by Gaming Realms. Interestingly the sites are not all being sold to the same buyer; Iceland Bingo is being bought by Black Spark and the other sites are being bought by Silverspin in what appears to be some sort of transfer between related companies. Currently Iceland shares three bingo rooms with the other sites but not with the rest of the Dragonfish network and it remains to be seen what will become of this arrangement after the sale is complete.
